UPDATED: OCT 13, 2005 Very nice medium-dark gold color. Very smooth off-white head that seems to be sticking around pretty good. Kind of has a nutty hop smell that I really like. Nice citrusy hop taste, reminds me a bit of grapefruit. Another good one from VT.

One of my favorite commercial beers. Nice gold color with a bright white head. Not real hoppy, but a pleasant citrus flavor and adequate bitter palate.

Pours a golden color with a thin white head. Aroma is standard IPA fare... hoppy, grapefruit and weak malt undertones. Taste is pretty good for this style. Strong citrus notes, piney bite and really hopped up as well. 'Almost' too bitter of a finish. Pretty good IPA overall.

not a bad beer actually. my first experience with harpoon. still not as good as some other ipas, but not that bad. this is in a bottle- too lazy to get a glass.

poured golden clear with a tight white head. aroma was clean fresh citrus, somewhat unique. the flavor seemed a little bland and watery. it was just a little hoppy with a mild bite. i was expecting more.

I liked the aroma more than the flavor - the aroma was very fresh and more than the standard pineyness - wet clay freshness and some citrus rind sharpnes. The flavor was a good solid IPA flavor, with some malt and strong C hop action.

Paid $1.39 for a single 12-oz. Light in body- medium golden- but had a great, huge head. Fluffy, lasts, and laces nicely. Kinda plain in the nose. Slightly IPA smelling, but also a bit weak. Plain in the mouth too, kinda hoppy, but not really. Only slightly citrus. Drinkable, but not a great beer =(

Both glass and bottle. This is my favorite, despite the other highly rated IPA's on this site, which don't hold a candle to this one IMHO. Appearance is a honey color, with a grainy, thin head. The aroma is hoppy, citrusy. But the flavor is really where this IPA shines. The taste is clean, biting, and has an exhilerating hop finish with bright, flower and citrus undertones. There is a distinct malt body mouthfeel - overall, a dense, sharp and carbonated impression. Implied spice flavors add complexity. The knifelike zing of this IPA may be too much for those who haven't spent a bitter winter evening in Boston. The least watery finish of any beer I've had, and not astringent at all. I can close my eyes and taste this beer, that's how good it is. Cheers

UPDATED: AUG 2, 2005 OK, so I just spent 4 days in an area where Harpoon is the most available drink in the area, so I got my fill. This is so very drinkable both draft and bottle. Not as hoppy as the West Coast stuff, but one of the best the East has to offer. Excellent matl-hop balance.

UPDATED: DEC 9, 2004 Great looking pour but loses head rather quickly. Initial taste is satisfying but gradually disappoints. Above average bitterness on the aftertaste. Slightly above average overall.
