355mL. Pours a clear, heavily carbonated orange amber with a medium, meringue, off-white head with good retention and lace. Aroma of candy corn, piny hops, old candies, light chemicals. Taste is very bitter, some mineral water, dish water detergent, soap, old melon rind. Palate is extremely thin with big time soap. Finish is lemony tart.

Very pleasant juicy hops, grapefruit dominates. A sweet malt base and a mild malty finish. Nice.

On tap. Not great. Aromas of flowers, and honey. Taste has a sweet start, with lingering bitterness. Palate is oily, with a thin-to-medium body. Yellow, with a thin head.

Served via draft at the Harpoon Brewery in Boston, MA in its tasting room. Pours a beautiful clear golden color with a nice medium white head. Fantastic aroma being very floral with a nice hoppy scent. Bittersweet taste with a nice bite and clean finish. Perhaps a little traditionally less bitter than most IPA’s, but it’s nice to notice. It can be found at almost any legitimate beer bar in the Boston area on draft. Very impressed with the Harpoon tour as well!

Harpoon I.P.A. has a rather thin, off-white head, and a semi-clear, copper appearance, with fine, suspended particulate matter throughout. A pretty good amount of carbonation can be seen streaming up the glass, and a little bit of lacing is left behind. The aroma, as well as the taste, is all floral hops, and there is a sharpness that requires little sips. Mouth-feel is moderate, and Harpoon I.P.A. finishes semi-dry. Overall, this is an okay ale, and I’d recommend giving it a try. RJT

UPDATED: DEC 28, 2010 On draft. Really reminds me of SNPA but maybe with a little more bitterness. A pretty simple IPA. Yeah it’s solid, but nothing too impressive.
