2.1 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
This beer looks prettier than it tastes or smells. It’s a nice mild color, and its scent isn’t too piney, but it lingers and when you actually sip it, it tastes like you’re drinking something made from pinecones.

On the lower end of the average scale but still respectable. Good little gateway IPA.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Hmm not a bad IPA, just a bit on the lighter side. Pours a relatively more pale copper orange color, some weak but presentable lacing and foam. Aroma is quite appetizing, rich maltiness and grapefruit and resin hops. Taste is the same, lots of bready malt and grapefruit hops, moderately bitter. Balanced but not subtle. Palate is thin and doesn't stick in the finish, which could be a plus for casual sessioning. A little bit of sweet fruit in the aftertaste too, fresh and summery. Not too sophisticated but pleasant overall.

on tap @ barking Crab Boston. ramata tenue, riflessi dorati e rubino. Veltata, schiuma beige molto fine e molto persistente. Aroma poco intenso, agrumata, caramellata, erbacea/resinosa. Abboccato l’ingresso, poi amara, luppolata intensamente, poco acida. Non troppo equilibrata, corpo medio, carbonatazione scarsa. Rotonda, un filo oleosa/appiccicosa. poco calda.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
A long time ago, on a college campus not that far away, in the mid 90’s, this beer along with Sierra Nevada’s Pale Ale changed my life... or at least my beer palate. It’s been a long long minute since I’ve tried the old girl. I’m sad to say she just doesn’t stand up to todays IPAs, even at the tame end of the spectrum. The aroma is rather malty. The flavor is similar with very minute lingering dryness and bitter character. This is a beer best left in the memory banks, allowed to shine for what it once was.
