This copper colored ale is floral, medium bodied, with a crisp, refreshing finish. Originally our summer seasonal in 1993, it is now available year-round. Harpoon IPA was ranked atop both domestic and imported IPAs by Beer Connoisseur Magazine.

This is pretty much the only legit IPA to be found on tap in Rochester. Pours a nice golden copper with a thick head. Very hoppy in both aroma and flavor. The only fault I could find with this one is the light bodied character. A well-rounded beer.

Clear amber color. Floral piney hop on the aroma. Biscuity sweetness is tempered with a persistent floral hop flavor. Finishes with dry crisp bitter finish.

This beer poured into the glass a gold color. The head was foamy white head that left fairly fast but the skim that it left was able to leave some lace. The aroma was of citrus, hops and citrus hops. The taste was not too heavy on the hops but they were present, but they shared it with the citrus. Some malt seemed to be present at the back of the taste but it faded quick. Pretty good for this style. I think it would be a good starter for a beginning IPA drinker

I had to give it an 8 for overall, otherwise it would have rated 3.6. Itís a good beer but too belgium tasting for an IPA. I probably would not pick this one again, unless the other choice was the ubiquitous Redhook IPA.

Clear yellow, much like a pills. Very thin head. Aroma is of light hops. Palate is a little fizzy and thin. Flavor reminds me of a Samuels Smithís india ale a little. Iím a little dissappointed with this beer. There a lot of good IPAs out there, but theis ainít one. This IPA taktes a little watery, has a matalic bitter taste and finishes quick with a light aftertaste. Just not that muich here

A more average IPA, although it is good. Itís definitely hoppy, though it lacks something in the flavor. I made an IPA myself which had a better flavor than this (it also had a better head).

Good strong lacing make this IPA something nice to look at while you enjoy it. A nice floral, woody, and sweet citrus aroma dominate both the aroma and the taste. a sweet and then bitter finish follows this medium carbonated brew. This one has a rough balance to it between hops and malt. I try to keep a couple on hand when Iím looking for a good íall-aroundí beer to have. Easy to find, relatively inexpensive and great with the college staple of pizza.

Am a newbie to IPAs, but found this one bland. Very little hop to it. Wonít be tempted to try it again.

One of my favorite beers. This is a staple in the Boston area. This ale is quite appealing to lager drinkers because of its light body and clean finish. Very clear. Bold hop aroma, a little floral. The first thing that grabs you is the malty/barley flavor, followed immediately by a big hop bitterness. Not nearly as assertive as an American Pale Ale, but right up there with the bitterest of the traditional IPAís. Nice, complex hop flavor. Very refreshing. This is my favorite everyday beer, especially with a pizza after a hard run. If you havenít had it, give it a try. Itís best on tap!
