This copper colored ale is floral, medium bodied, with a crisp, refreshing finish. Originally our summer seasonal in 1993, it is now available year-round. Harpoon IPA was ranked atop both domestic and imported IPAs by Beer Connoisseur Magazine.

This IPA doesnít compare well w/ some of the others Iíve had. It isnít hoppy enough. The initial taste is bland, w/ a somewhat hoppy finish. Also, it doesnít have as much aroma as other IPAís

Not the worlds best IPA. Lacks the true hop bite and has minimal head. I did enjoy the aroma and thought...Wondered, if the draft might be just a tad better. Still, any IPA is pretty darn good as far as Iím concerned. Makes me feel like getting out there and mowing the lawn, er, I donít really have a lawn yet but...Some day.

Super hoppy. The epitome of hop. Good for what it is, but itís not my deal.

UPDATED: FEB 23, 2003 Nice, sweet hop flavor, but the finish is short and light. Somewhat watery. Not a bad IPA, but it just lacks some character.

Draft. It just lacks hops and doesn't impress. It's easy enough to drink and has a medium bode, but it could sure use some more flavor.

Not really an IPA...there is very little hop nose and only a moderate amount of bitterness. Let's face it, this is a pale ale. My biggest beef with this beer (and most of Harpoon's beers) is a husky/grainy/astringent flavor that takes away from the flavor. And once I noticed it, it was like the cowbell on "Don't Fear the Reaper" after seeing Will Ferrell's skit on SNL...I taste it in all of Harpoon's beers (UFO excluded). Are they over-sparging there, or what? I usually only have this beer if it's the only kind in someone else's fridge.

Bottle. Medium sized creamy and smooth white head and fine-large sized bubbles that mostly diminished. Carbonated, transparent and a straw yellow hue. Malty, hoppy and a sweet aroma with a mostly hoppy flavor. The mouthfeel was fairly smooth. This was a medium bodied beer with very sparse lacing.

Light orange with a big white head. If Budweiser made an IPA this is what I think it would taste like. A pitiful aroma for an IPA although this may be a good introductory IPA for someone who either cannot take the power of a Stone or just has not developed the taste by sampling many hoppy beers.

UPDATED: OCT 29, 2005 a good ipa light color nice even hoppy flavor, very crisp and dry, not a great example of an ipa - dry finish with stale hops

Poured from a bottle, transparent goled, with a white head which quickly dissapated. Not much aroma, very light mouthfeel with a lot of carbonation - too light and too carbonated. Middle-of-the road flavor - nothing really exciting, some light hopping on the finish, but nothing special.
