Bottle shared with the team at work on our last day on madison ave. Pours a clear amber orange body. Aroma is sweet caramel malts, barley and sweet booze. Mouthfeel is slick with notes of booze and sweet malts. The beer seems to be a bit unbalanced.

From bottle served in snifter. Slight semi sweet, fruity aroma. Fairly hazy, amber color with minimal head. Very bitter taste. Fairly strong bitter finish with a medium body. Overall not really my favorite beer. Too hoppy without much other flavors coming through.

Bottle, poured a copper red color with smaller head that dissipated a bit. Aroma is malt, hop, dark fruit, candy flavored. Med-lite sweetness and bitterness. Malty backbone with a bit of bitterness finish. Not bad, but there is better barley wines out there for sure.

My father and I each bought this in a mix-and-match six pack because we are on a mission to try as many barleywine ales as possible ever since we both fell in love with them a few years back when we tried the insatiable Old Curmudgeon from Founder’s. If you asked him, he would tell you that this one - Harpoon’s Leviathan - ranks in the bottom rung of his barleywine chart, but I liked it considerably more than he did. Other than a small bite in the aftertaste (which is not big enough to enough discount the beer too much) this is a solid barleywine with the classic strong aroma you come to expect from the brew. I can’t say that it ranks with the best of the bunch in its kind, but I enjoyed all 12 oz. of the bottle I purchased the other night.

Didn’t seem very creative, more like an imperial ipa on steroids. Boozy, deep amber, some sweet dark fruit, mostly boost.

on draft poured out amber with little head and carbonation...the aroma of warm alcohol and dark fruit very prominent...the sweet malt and dark fruit flavor followed by the warmth of the alcohol burn results in a very nice beer..aging? anything is possible.
