COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The latest installment of the Harpoon Leviathan Series was brewed in the centuries-old tradition of Czech and Bohemian brewers. Harpoon Big Bohemian is a large lager with a clean maltiness and a huge aromatic hop character. Continental Pilsner, pale two-row, and Carafoam malt was used to brew this big, strong beer, true to the Leviathan Series. Pilsner malt is the classic ingredient of this classic style and the Carafoam malt produces a nice, frothy head. This malt mixture combined with Czech Saaz hops, the quintessential hop of the style, yields an assertive but not overly aggressive beer. The finish is dry with a lingering floral hop character.

12oz bottle, light golden pour with a decent white head. No hops left in the flavor at all, but also not much of the 9% in this one either. Was a let down, but I would have liked to try this one fresh.

12 oz gift. Smells super funky like my hands after handling my uncle’s coin collection. Boozy, malty, and fairly complex. More like a strong ale than a pilsener, but that works for me. Leviathan lives!

Dull golden semi-hazy yellow pour with ring of offwhite head is not. Sweet floral hop profile is a little fruity almost. Somewhat spicy and buttercream. Soft malt character. Decent for the style I suppose, but nothing stellar. Spicy finish.

20101103 12oz bottle from State Line. Dated BB Oct 10. Light hazed golden with sticky white head that fades. Aroma is pizza dough, mild green herbs, nice weedy/floral hop notes. Surprisingly crisp and quaffable for a huge beer, bolstered by ample clean saazy hops at the finish, herby and sharp. Medium-light sweetness lingers, but it’s definitely pleasantly accompanied by some drying hops. I dig it, and would certainly be in trouble if I had a four pack in front of me.

Lucent gold, thin white head, medium-full body, medium carbonation.

Aroma: fruity floral hops.

Taste: lots of crackery pale malt, lots of mild vinous floral nobel hops, and a little bit of yeast.

Pleasant and nicely balanced. Big but simple. More a pairing beer than a sessional.

A deep golden brew with white fluffy head and decent carbonation. Spicy grapefruit aroma and flavor. Body is on the heavy side, despite the clarity. Decent amount of alcohol burn with this one going down. Hits the head quickly. Tasty enough, but really not my thing.

12 oz bottle. Deep clear gold pour with a thick white head. Big noble hop nose with lots bready malt. Taste is smooth sweet bready malt with a big noble hop bitterness. A little over the top flavor wise, but otherwise, very good

Hazy yellow with a poufy white head. Lively aroma of honeysuckle, citrus, and an odd bit of pineapple. Taste is the same, with sweet lemon-tea and a fading slightly medicinal edge. Very nice and well "dialed up". $2.5/12oz

Bottle. Gold with a thin head. Quiet soft hoppy nose. Big pepper taste, followed by BBQ?, then booze. This is a confused boozy beer. Hard to Imperialize such a delicate style.

Medium sized white head, good retention and a nice coating lace. Lightly hazy gold color. Faint nose of grass, straw, sulphur and some grainy malts. Body is medium with a tingly carbonation but still soft at the same time, light acidity. Grainy maltiness is lightly sweet, doughy with notes of lightly spicey hops, grass and some floral notes. Lightly sweet finish is almost balanced by the just shy bittering. Better than expected. Bottle procured @statelineliquors.
