The latest installment of the Harpoon Leviathan Series was brewed in the centuries-old tradition of Czech and Bohemian brewers. Harpoon Big Bohemian is a large lager with a clean maltiness and a huge aromatic hop character. Continental Pilsner, pale two-row, and Carafoam malt was used to brew this big, strong beer, true to the Leviathan Series. Pilsner malt is the classic ingredient of this classic style and the Carafoam malt produces a nice, frothy head. This malt mixture combined with Czech Saaz hops, the quintessential hop of the style, yields an assertive but not overly aggressive beer. The finish is dry with a lingering floral hop character.

12 ounce bottle courtesy of LooseCannon. Thanks! Pours a clear golden color with a medium head. Good head retention and lacing. Aroma is very bready with some grassy notes and a peppery finish. Taste is very bread again with lots of peppery spice notes, caramel and some apple and peach notes poking through. Very strong piney hops throughout. Alcohol adds a bit of a medicinal quality to this.

(12oz bottle) Small white head atop crystal clear straw body. Aroma is medium sweet, straw/grass, orange/floral, some peach, dough, lemon. Taste is moderately sweet, floral/orange, spicy/straw, some peach, lemon, dough/bread, some alcohol. Some medium body, light alcohol acidity but otherwise fairly smooth.

This is light gold, almost yellow in color. Aroma is of hops and orange and lemon peels. Taste is very hoppy and citrusy. I can pick up a lot of lemon peels and some orange. Has a nice and smooth finish. Another good one from Harpoon.

Pours deep gold with 3-finger white head. Nose is pale malt, hops, sour fruit. Tastes rich, a bit cloying at first, very malty, with peach, apricot, and hops. Tannic, not tart enough for this style, and a bit too cloying for me. Also gets very hot and astringent late.

Pours a nice gold color with considerable white head and decent lacing. Smells refreshing, don’t recall the details. Flavor is a nice mild blend of light malt and hops with a bit of honey. Alcohol content is covered amazingly well. Good beer, enjoyed very much. Has a nice slight bitterness in the finish that I like to see in lager beers.

A golden pilsner with a thick frothy white head. In aroma, citrusy hops aroma with light lemon peels, and nice crisp malt and herbal notes. In mouth, crisp malt, loads of Saaz hops, a real pils on hormones. Medium bodied, alcohol warmth in finale. Bottle from Federal Wine and Liquors, Boston, tasted with Mateo in Bogota, Colombia, July 12, 2009.

a real ggod beer. A real good pilsner. Light in color with a nice hoppy aroma. Its got a subtle sweetness that overtakes the intial hops flavor. Finishes slightly dry. My second offering from the leviathon series and another winner.

Robust grain and yeast aroma. Clear golden color with a large white head. I wish I poured this on in a larger glass. Light sweetness is masked by some hops in the beginning with bitter hop and mild alcohol in the finish. Hearty lager.
