COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The latest installment of the Harpoon Leviathan Series was brewed in the centuries-old tradition of Czech and Bohemian brewers. Harpoon Big Bohemian is a large lager with a clean maltiness and a huge aromatic hop character. Continental Pilsner, pale two-row, and Carafoam malt was used to brew this big, strong beer, true to the Leviathan Series. Pilsner malt is the classic ingredient of this classic style and the Carafoam malt produces a nice, frothy head. This malt mixture combined with Czech Saaz hops, the quintessential hop of the style, yields an assertive but not overly aggressive beer. The finish is dry with a lingering floral hop character.

Hazy yellow with a poufy white head. Lively aroma of honeysuckle, citrus, and an odd bit of pineapple. Taste is the same, with sweet lemon-tea and a fading slightly medicinal edge. Very nice and well "dialed up". $2.5/12oz

Bottle. Pours gold, with a white head. Aroma is malt, hops, and grain. Flavor is malt, hops, fruit, grain, and some alcohol. Crisp finish. This tastes more like a pilsner than I thought it would for being 9%. Might need to get more of this.

12oz bottle. Very well done pilsner. I was a bit hesitant about the high abv on this one but it does not detract at all, very little if any alcohol taste comes through. One of the better pilseners I have had. Pours golden with a foamy head that sticks around. Definite floral hops coming through in a crisp and pleasant grassy taste.

Bottle. Aroma of lemon, lightly grassy hops, biscuit malt, alcohol. Didn’t realize this was one of those imperial pils, so the alcohol seemed odd, though it makes sense now! Flavor was an onslaught of grainy complexity with hay, wheat, biscuit, french bread blending seamlessly with floral, earthy, grassy hop notes, quite lovely. Happy to break the 3.6 streak for this one.

- Pours a bright slightly hazy golden-yellow color with a finger of white super frothy head. The head slowly fades to a thin ring around the glass leaving behind some lace spots. S - Aroma is a mix of some pine hops and some grains. There is also a touch of citrus hanging out in the background. T - Starts off with some citrus (orange peel) flavors and some light hops. There is also some grain that acts as a backbone. Through the middle some sweeter fruit flavors and some stronger hops come through. The finish is a bit sweet with a touch of bitterness and a bit of spices that linger nicely. M - Medium bodied with moderate lively carbonation. Feels full of flavor but still not overly filling and still very crisp and refreshing. D - Very drinkable. Very nice flavors and well balanced. The full flavors compared to many other pilsenrs, and it is very good.

12 oz bottle. Pours a cloudy pale yellow with a 1/2" white head. Aroma is grains, malt and citrus. Moderate palate, low carbonation. Flavor is bready grain, sugar, malt, mild hops and pepper. Yes, I said pepper. Just a little.

Bottle - Poured a hazy golden yellow in color with a small white head that faded to a thin rim around the top of the beer. Aroma is fruity with citrus, fairly sweet malts and a pleasant graininess. Flavor is about the same... citrus/lemon and malty grains with flowery hops and a hint of alcohol... although not nearly as much as it contains. Finish is slightly bitter and hoppy. I like this!

Not so big, nor all that Bohemian. Hot Triple character, spicy, some bright top hops.

a real ggod beer. A real good pilsner. Light in color with a nice hoppy aroma. Its got a subtle sweetness that overtakes the intial hops flavor. Finishes slightly dry. My second offering from the leviathon series and another winner.

THOUGHTS: The bottle was a couple months past date, but it didn’t seem to mater. Very intense. Fairly European. Hid the alcohol very well. Very crisp and easy to drink for something this big. TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured a light to medium, golden, yellow with a large, off-white head that slowly diminished and kept a nice sheet and left excellent lacing. The aroma was moderate, straw, cookie and pale malt; moderate to heavy floral and grassy hops; lighter perfumey hops; light honey and a hint of lemon. The initial flavor was moderately to rather sweet and slightly bitter; while the finish was rather sweet and rather to heavily bitter with a fairly long duration. There was pale malt, slight honey, straw, floral and grassy hops and slightly metallic hops; The medium body was very crisp. It was slightly syrupy and and then dry with fizzy carbonation and a lightly metallic finish.
