COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Named after the ancient god of darkness, Leviathan Czernobog is a tribute to the hardy stouts originally brewed in England for shipment to the frigid Baltic. With notes of unsweetened chocolate, molasses, and dark fruit, this Russian Imperial Stout will withstand the darked of winters.

Pours black into a snifter. Mocha conglomerate head froths and recedes leaving spider lacing. Dark chocolate and pit fruit aromas. Thin with smoky chocolate upfront turning to caramel and pit fruit before the lasting hot espresso finish.

Tap @ Pony w James, Andy, Feng. Black pour, cocoa powder head that retreats to the edge of the glass quickly. Light toasty coca, coffee and dairy on the nose with even some hops - deserving of a 9 in aroma. Palate is milky, notes of light coffee or chocolate powder, sweet and dark. I would describe it as rich and sweet yet medium bodied and a roasty, underwhelming aftertaste.

Draft at pony bar with Andrew, Brendan and Feng. Pours a deep black body with no head and light chocolate brown lacing. Aroma is deep espresso and roast. Mouthfeel is medium with notes of sweet chocolate malts, light roast. Very straight forward stout, very balanced and extremely drinkable considering the 10%.

Tap at Max’s Taphouse. Pours opaque black with a small, creamy tan head, short retention with light lacing. Aroma is dark fruity esters, dark chocolate and roast malt with earthy hops. Flavor is malt dominant with chocolate notes, light hops and bitterness, dark fruity esters with a dry finish. Medium body and carbonation.

For a 10% abv stout, this falls far short of expectations on the body scale. Relatively thin and watery, I would have guessed a porter if tasted blind. Some chocolate sweetness and charred woods, but not a lot going on. Pff

Tap thanks to beerandblues2. Pours opaque black with average, frothy tan head; decent retention and spare lacing. Aroma is chocolate, vanilla, dark fruit, roast malt, light woody notes and faint earthy hops. Flavor is roast malt forward with chocolate, coffee, earthy hops, dark fruit esters and light vanilla; dry finish. Medium body and low carbonation.

Black like licorice. Minimal coffee colored head. Mollasses and brown sugar. Maple wood Taste is bitter sweet. Like a snickers bar. Nutty and chocolate with some caramel. Finish is brow sugar and vanilla. High body low carbonation. Very dry at the finish This is a very weak stout. A sweeter porter? It’s pretty weak and not amazing. Worth a try though

Bottle. Pours a thick and very black color with almost no head. Nose is just a little sweet and fruity, which I found surprising. Taste is just a tad sour, with some roasting underneath. Not my favorite of the style.

Pours dark black with a light brown head. Some creaminess, a nice flavor. A solid stout, felt a little thinner than some of the better imperial.

Deep brown in color with an off white head that settles off completely. Aroma is sweet with chocolatey, molasses notes. Tastes sweet and smooth, much like a milk stout, though more intense with the chocolate flavors. A bit warming.
