Named after the ancient god of darkness, Leviathan Czernobog is a tribute to the hardy stouts originally brewed in England for shipment to the frigid Baltic. With notes of unsweetened chocolate, molasses, and dark fruit, this Russian Imperial Stout will withstand the darked of winters.

12 oz bottle. Pours as dark as midnight on a moonless night in the country with a one finger khaki head and pretty good lace. Smell is rich with unsweetened chocolate, molasses, dark fruits and toasted grains. Flavor starts out bitter, but turns towards the sweet side as you get into it. Just enough booze so’s your reminded your drinking a big beer. Heavy, even oily palate. Very good.

Pours a dark black with brown head. Has a nice chocolate, coffee, and dark alcohol aroma. Taste is strong with chocolate, coffee, and malts, with a lingering dark alcohol aftertaste. Not overpowering like many Russian imperials. More mild.

Bottle from Meditrina. Black with tan head and lace. Chocolate licorice cocoa woody aroma with hints of booze. Roasted dark chocolate molasses sweetness with hints of raisin or plum. Woody spicy bitterness. Fairly dry and well-attenuated for style. Low carbo. Very good/excellent.

22 ounce bottle, 2014 edition. Served in a DFH snifter, the beer pours dark brown/black with maybe an inch tan head that stuck around a while. There’s also a good amount of lacing. Aroma is nice, the brew smells like dark fruit, molasses, roasted malt, bittersweet chocolate and some coffee. I think the taste is similar to the aroma, but with some milk chocolate, vanilla, and a bit of licorice noticeable. I think the strongest flavors are the molasses and dark fruity ones at first, with the chocolate kicking in more after a while. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it’s a bit slick and creamy with moderate carbonation. I think it’s a good overall imperial stout. At $5.99 a bomber, it’s definitely worth picking up at least once!

From the 650 ml. bottle dated 2014. The pour is deep dark jet black with a modest tan head on top. I pick up more of a milk chocolate character before all else but no alcohol considering the 10% ABV. The body is around medium. The taste has a kind of milk chocolate flavor with dark roasted malts and a slightly dry finish.

Pours a solid dark brown/black with a good sized creamy tan head that slowly dissipates to a cap on top. The aroma is filled with dark dried fruit and caramel with hints of molasses, chocolate, and coffee. Light earthy hop aroma tries to provide some balance but succumbs to the depths of the malt. The flavor is a bit of a departure from the aroma. Chocolate and coffee milk flavors with with a bit of caramel and molasses. Light earthy hop and a touch of ethanol in a fairly dry finish. Medium body with a light to moderate level of carbonation and a sweet silky mouthfeel. This is a decent stout that I can get behind. Its not overly complex, and a bit dry in the finish for my liking, but I enjoyed it just the same.

Pours dark black with a light brown head. Some creaminess, a nice flavor. A solid stout, felt a little thinner than some of the better imperial.

Draft at pony bar with Andrew, Brendan and Feng. Pours a deep black body with no head and light chocolate brown lacing. Aroma is deep espresso and roast. Mouthfeel is medium with notes of sweet chocolate malts, light roast. Very straight forward stout, very balanced and extremely drinkable considering the 10%.
