COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Named after the ancient god of darkness, Leviathan Czernobog is a tribute to the hardy stouts originally brewed in England for shipment to the frigid Baltic. With notes of unsweetened chocolate, molasses, and dark fruit, this Russian Imperial Stout will withstand the darked of winters.

Dark in appearance... tan, bubbly head. Smells like a thin carbonated malty beer. Tastes and feels thin.. more like a porter than a stout.

On tap from the brewery. Chocolate, roasted malts, with a hint of bitter hops. Harpoon did a very nice job with this.

From the 650 ml. bottle dated 2014. The pour is deep dark jet black with a modest tan head on top. I pick up more of a milk chocolate character before all else but no alcohol considering the 10% ABV. The body is around medium. The taste has a kind of milk chocolate flavor with dark roasted malts and a slightly dry finish.

GIJOE (771) - North Berwick, Maine, USA - JAN 27, 2015
Pours black and oily, with a foamy, brownish head that slowly dissipates to a ring and a little film. Sparse lacing. Nose is boozy and dominated by malt, with notes of chocolate and prunes. Taste is on the sweet side, but there is a nice hop nip as well. Full body, lively carbonation. Decent brew.

Pours an opaque brownish black from the bottle with thin ring of tan brown head that leaves moderate lace. Aroma of deep roast and earthy soy. Taste is way better, dark chocolate over roast and sweet malt. Thick sweetness, nice bitter middle, thick with light carbonation.

22oz bottle. Pours dark brown with a tan head. Nice flavors of dark fruits, chocolate, molasses and licorice. Despite the high abv there is very little alcohol taste or burn. Overall an easy drinking impy that I thoroughly enjoyed.

22 ounce bottle, 2014 edition. Served in a DFH snifter, the beer pours dark brown/black with maybe an inch tan head that stuck around a while. Thereís also a good amount of lacing. Aroma is nice, the brew smells like dark fruit, molasses, roasted malt, bittersweet chocolate and some coffee. I think the taste is similar to the aroma, but with some milk chocolate, vanilla, and a bit of licorice noticeable. I think the strongest flavors are the molasses and dark fruity ones at first, with the chocolate kicking in more after a while. Mouthfeel/body is medium, itís a bit slick and creamy with moderate carbonation. I think itís a good overall imperial stout. At $5.99 a bomber, itís definitely worth picking up at least once!

On tap at MacGregorís with Joe and Dan H. Pours a deep black body with small head and light chocolate brown lacing. Aroma is espresso and roast. Mouthfeel is medium with notes of sweet chocolate malts, light roast. Very straight forward stout, very balanced and drinkable.
