4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle at Monk’s Café, Wallingatan
Hazy copper to amber color; medium creamy head. Excellent hoppy aroma, perfumy and fruity (oranges, bitter oranges), a bit earthy and sweaty too, very light cheese touch. Good body strength and mouthfeel, round; strong caramel flavor, with the necessary residual sweetness; strong hopping, first oily, but resiny and fruity as well. Powerful and long final. No surprises (an Imperial IPA as we had many already), but very solid.

Leviathan is an apt name: this beer is a powerhouse. The high alcohol content and robust flavor make this a beer for the strong-willed.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle. Clear deep golden/copper color with a rich lasting offwhite head. Malty fruity aroma at first, peach, pine apple, hay, mango, pine, perfume, very nice bitterness growing stronger and stronger, grapefruit, woody, nice notes of caramel. Malty fruity flavor, peach, grass, citrus, biscuits, pine needles, plum, pineapple, some warming alcohol, mango, perfume, woody, caramel. I’m so impressed to see all flavors coming together, this beer never gets extreme, still it keeps bringing new flavors all the time. Malty finish with grapes, mango, pine, caramel and a growing bitterness. Lovely!

#4000 Bottle from ericandersnavy - thanks for helping me over a big number! Pours quite copper with a fluffy off-white head. Aroma seems to be a complex of floral/citrus/fruit/resin. Medium plus body with fairly strong carbonation. Flavor is quite bitter with a mildly roasted caramel backbone. Finish is rather floral. It’s extremely tasty.

3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
12 oz. bottle, pours a hazy golden orange with a small white head. Sugary resinous hops on the nose with loads of caramel sweetness - hints at a very sweet body. Flavour has lots of sticky resinous hops, heaps of caramel, all this dominated by an extremely sugary base that sort of overwhelms the big hop presence and malt backing. Finished sickly sweet, with a boozy burn. Definitely overrated.
