Bottle from Paula. Pours copper with a slight beige head. Rich malt aroma. Rye? Full bodied. Flavor is very rye. It’s mildly non-dry, but there’s enough hop and roast malt/rye to render it bitter. Seems nicely balanced, and it’s very tasty.

Lubiere (8239) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - OCT 20, 2011
A cognac amber with a thin lacing mocha head. In aroma, a murky sweet malt with light boiled veggies, a bit of spices, weird. In mouth, a smooth chalky sweet malt, treacle, with grassy hops, light cheesy notes, not bad. On tap at brewpub, Oct. 10 2011.

hopscotch (8212) - Vero Beach, Florida, USA - SEP 4, 2011
Draft... Clear copper ale with a small, creamy, off-white head. The nose is an intermingling of caramel malt, earthy hops and spicy, grainy rye. Full-bodied with a sticky mouthfeel and prickly carbonation. The flavor is a melange of caramel, toffee and medium bitter hops with mild ethanol burn and an underpinning of crisp rye spiciness and graininess. Finishes spicy dry and warming. Finishes spicy, dry and warming. If you dig rye, this is quite nice.

Bottle poured a clear orange amber with a lingering ring of amber foam. Aromas of rye, raisin, light carmel and light earthiness. Palate was medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of rye, earthiness, toffee and light raisin with a smooth moderatly bitter lingering rye finish.

CaptainCougar (7093) - Columbia, Maryland, USA - DEC 22, 2011
12oz bottle: Pours a clear deep copper amber with a stringy-lacing off-white head. Has a lightly sweet toasted caramel and rye nose with a touch of light fruity esters. Starts with decent fullness and chewy sweet nutty notes with some herbal earthy rye flavor and a touch of peppery bitterness before a drier, slightly warming finish. Could use a little more hop flavor, but a fairly unique brew.
