12 oz bottle. Purs a dark brown with tan head. Aroma of light chocolate and some dark roasted malt. Flavor of light chocolate, dark roasted malt, a bit of burnt caramel with a easy, pleasing bitterness. Mouth feel is medium body with very high carbonation. Overall, was a decent brew.

I had this beer a while back and from what I can remember I enjoyed it. I’ve had this at the pub/brewery so it was fresh. Nothing special about it is popping into my head at the moment.

Hmmm maybe I’m rating the wrong beer, but I’m pretty sure I tried this one on tap at the brewery. Everyone else here (except for one guy on my front page who seems just as crazy as me) seems to be going on and on about how dark this was. Okay, I get it- that is part of this name. However, compared to other dark beers, this seemed pretty lightweight to me. Almost guinneslike. Don’t get me wrong, guinness and this are dark, but there are much darker thicker beers you can get. This is pretty good. Not really much chocolate flavor going on, which is good at times. I like this.

12 oz bottle: Pours a dark brown with a light head. Aroma is malty with little going on over all. flavor is the same. Very smooth, but not the body of a dark beer that I would generally choose. Smooth and easy to drink.

Bottle- Pours a dark brown with a tan head that has good retenion and lacing. Looks inviting. Roasted malt & coffee aroma with a trace of chocolate. nice, not overpowering. Nice roasted malt taste with a mild coffee & chocolate sweetness mixed in. Semi-dry finish witha light dark chocolate aftertaste. Fairly medium body, a bit lighter that expected. Not a bad thing. Quite smooth and well balanced. Good drinker. Good brew for the style. Well worth a try.

Bottle: The aroma is pretty heavy on caramel and chocolate with some hints of fruit (cherry???) and coffee. It pours a transparent garnet with a small off-white head that fades to a thin film within a minute or so. The flavor starts with lots of chocolate and caramel. There’s a light fruitiness in the background. The finish is lightly roasty with a touch of coffee. Light-medium bodied with mild carbonation and a somewhat soft mouthfeel. Rather tasty and very drinkable.
