On tap. Pours a dark black with a tan head and lacing. It has a medium aroma of sweet, dark, and toasty malts. The flavor is sweet and dark malts up front leading to a balanced semisweet middle and aftertaste over a light-medium mouthfeel.

12oz bottle - pours ruby brown with beige head and decent lacing. Nose is caramel and roasted malts. Flavor adds light coffee and grassy hops. Wow, better than I expected. Taste is well balanced and bittersweet. Refreshing not so light. Solid. It drinks itself.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 ThisWangsChung (448) - Leonardtown, Maryland, USA - MAR 13, 2013
Reviewed 2/4/13. 12 oz bottle into a pint glass.
A: Pours a dark cola color. The head isn’t particularly impressive; it’s a one finger light mocha shade that fades away to a gimpy-looking film quickly.
S: Mild roasted grains, some faint chocolate, nuts, butterscotch, and slight fruity esters. A decent aroma that only suffers only from its mild strength.
T: There’s an initial hit of roasted coffee, before it finishes with some nutty malts and some stone fruit esters. Not complex or particularly interesting, but it’s easy drinking and pleasant.
M: Superbly clean and crisp. Apart from a slight lingering fruity note from the lager yeast, this is as bone dry as it gets. I really like the feel here.
O: I had this one last year and hated it. Having it now, it’s less awful and more ho-hum. Still, it does a solid job of hitting the qualities a dark lager should.

Beer pours medium brown color with a mostly dissipating tan colored head. Aroma has mostly malty notes of caramel, chocolate, nuts, and cereal. Taste is mostly sweet with a bit of hop bitterness in the finish. Pretty enjoyable beer. I would drink again.
