JamesD (159), Centreville, Virginia, USA Sep 11, 2008 I thought this beer was okay. It’s a run of the mill dunkel. Has some nice toffee flavor with a dry, but slightly sticky palate. This beer is good, but it’s not great. Butters (422), Temporarily in Nashville, Tennessee, USA Sep 9, 2008 Bottle. Good for style. Pours a clear dark brown, minimal tan head. Roasted nutty flavor. Some chocolate in the aroma, but not much. Not bad, not great PilsnerPeter (1477), Flushing, New York, USA Aug 30, 2008 Tap at Barcade: Cola looking pour, with a thin, tan ring of head. The aroma has some macro-malt character, gritty chocolate and stale coffee in the background. Fizzy feel on the palate, a bit overly carbonated. The flavor starts with cheap sweet dark malt- making it reminiscent of chocolate soda. Then the late finish gives off hints of roasted malt with mild coffee character, which "saves" the flavor. Pretty simple and lacks cohesiveness. bretupdegraff (101), Fishers, Indiana, USA Aug 25, 2008 not my favorite dark brew. Had on tap at Union Oyster. Bar in Boston... Interesting flavor. Good not Great.
