One of my favorite beers. Aroma was great, nice golden appearance, and was perfectly smooth. Great beer from a great brewery! Re-rate 9/28/02 I remember this beer being a lot better, but then again I had it off tap in a glass. Still a real solid beer, and one of my favorites from Harpoon.
4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20 rampmaster (642) - Alden, New York, USA - OCT 22, 2008
Presentation: It was poured from a brown 12oz bottle into a dimpled mug.
Appearance: It has a thick and foamy beige head over a dark orange amber colored body with good clarity. The head has good retention and slowly fades to thin covering leaving nice slick lacing that slides down the glass as I sip.
Smell: Its aroma is creamy sweet and malty with some toasted caramel notes and mild leafy hops.
Taste/Mouth feel: The flavor has wonderful toasted notes with sweet creamy caramel and mild spicy/leafy hops. Hop bitterness is mild throughout but picks in the finish and fades off the tongue slowly. It has a smooth and creamy texture that is just slightly sick with good balanced carbonation and a solid medium to full body.
Notes: Well done! This is a great Oktoberfest/Amber Ale brewed with Ale yeast instead of traditional Lager yeast.

UPDATED: JAN 9, 2003 Very dark amber color with a smooth taste and a slighty bitter finish. Not as flavorful as some of the German breweries, but overall really good for a local brew.

On Tap. Putney Inn VT. Nice deep amber pour with a nice foamy head. Cinnimon chocholet roasted barley make up a nice part of this beer without over powering the natural flavor. Enjoy!

An excellent Oktoberfest. Great dark red color and slightly sweet aroma. The only Oktoberfest better than this one so far (in my opinion, of course) is Sam Adam's Oktoberfest.

Draft- A tasty, full bodied beer with a nice malty flavor. Well balanced but leans a little to the sweet side.
