Nice looking beer. Very, very fine Brussels lace. Professional appearance. The beer is surprisingly smooth for 7.8%; however, it is surprisingly noncomplex for 7.8%.

Jun 23, 2008 mild hop nose atop medium malt maybe a little stale at that. small head pockmarked with bigger bubbles covers half the glass an a micro head haze the other. the yeast is boring but still somehow off but given that it does not detract to much. smooth and slippery. the hops give good bittering to the finish that is otherwise short.

Feb 23, 2008 Pours a slightly cloudy orange color with a thin white head. Attractive aroma of caramel, bananas and other fruity esters, there’s also a phenolic, yeasty feeling and malt. The flavor is strange, it feels half good and half bad, the good half is fruity and malty, the bad half is a disturbing phenolic presence. The body is light to medium with an oily texture.

Feb 4, 2008 Gold foil capped 650 ml. bomber bottle, freshness date by the barcode, sampled in a tulip glass.
L: Slightly tarnished orangy copper with a fluffy beige head that slowly dissipated into a thin sudsy lacing. Cloudy unfiltered appearance, this is off to good start.
S: Bock-like aromas, sweet caramel and honey, banana, perfumed apricots and pears, hints of cocoa, brown bread and a light herbal hoppiness.
F&T: Nice soft feel in the palate, moderately airy body, creamy and velvety smooth. Delicious malty tastes of caramelized sugar and toffee, a little milk chocolate, honey and dry, toasted brown bread, along with a subtle fruitiness of apricots and pears. A light herbal spiciness towards the end. Finishes dry, caramel covered pears, spicy hops and a slow, but lingering alcoholic warmth.
Another highly drinkable limited release from Harpoon, balanced and tasty, recommended.

Jan 16, 2008 This bock pours a medium orange gold color from a 22oz bottle. Small sized white foamy head. The aroma is fruity and sweet; there is some buttered popcorn and corn here as well (diacetyl). A medium bodied bock/ale. Not sure what to call this beer. The malts are fruity and sweet. The hops are grapefruity and herbal. Drinkable, but kind of boring. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.

Jan 16, 2008 Very rarely do I ever get that sense of diacytl in the aroma. I guess maybe I’m just not that sensitive to it. But I could clearly get it in this nose. While not overwhelming to me, it was there. Butterscotch, some corn, and an undefined fruity sweetness. Taste is medium sweet, slightly spicy, alcohol with the burn, and a bit of the butter. Copper in color with a nice one-finger thick head. Overall it’s pretty blah. Nothing horrible, but nothing remotely redeemable either.
