Hank1980 (327), Athens, Georgia, USA Jun 4, 2008 Pours a dark brown, almost black, with a thin white head. Aroma of smoke and roasted malt. Smoke isn’t too big here, as it can be. Taste is smokey with a little bit of malt/chocolate sweetness. Body is lighter than normal for this type of brew. dlovell2 (87), Columbia, Maryland, USA Mar 8, 2008 Dark brown with tan head. Smokey aroma like bacon. Smokey taste. Smoke is the overpowering factor in this beer. But still a very enjoyable unique porter. MiP (4843), Flensburg, Germany Feb 2, 2008 Bottle, 5.4%. Smoky and cardboardy aroma. Very dark brown colour with a red shine, seems clear. Very small, bubbly light brown head. The flavour is nicely smoked, subtly, but still distinct. A sort of woody charcoal smoke. The aftertaste has more smoke, getting a bit more towards salami, and with some goat flavour. Thin mouthfeel, but this suits the beer fine. One-dimensional, but I like it a lot. gunnfryd (2664), Kristiansand, Norway Jan 27, 2008 Bottle. Dark brown colour with a beige head. Aroma is roasted, smoked, coffee, chocolate. Flavour is roasted, smoked, chocolate, coffee. Nice beer.
yngwie (3342), Kristiansand, Norway Jan 21, 2008 Bottle. A dark brown beer with a reddish tint and an off-white head. Mocha, chocolate, coffee, some sourish notes and a dryish touch in the aroma. Not much smoke detected there, but sure fine. Chocolate, mocha and a sour touch in the flavor, finishing with a lasting roastyness. Full to medium body. A nice beer, but they should have used more smoked malt I think. (071123)
