puboflyons (374), New Hampshire, USA Jul 23, 2007 Bottle with expiration date of 08/09/07...so I made it by two weeks. Rich, black pour with a wonderful aroma of smoked cheese or smoked meat. Not much of a head. Bold mouthfeel with a lucious smoked flavor. Oh man, I liked this one. It was probably the best Harpoon brew I have ever tasted. I’ll admit, I have never had a smoked porter before so maybe I don’t know what I’m missing. dlovell2 (110), Columbia, Maryland, USA Mar 8, 2008 Dark brown with tan head. Smokey aroma like bacon. Smokey taste. Smoke is the overpowering factor in this beer. But still a very enjoyable unique porter. WesBeerGuy (62), Rocky Hill, Connecticut, USA Apr 22, 2005 Beef Jerky. Seriously. But in a good way. Pours like a classic porter, pitch black body, mocha head. The aroma is fantastic. It really smells like smoked meat. Nice sweet porter taste, but a little thinner than others I’ve had recently. Quite good. Bravo, Harpoon. rocbyter (638), Waterbury, Connecticut, USA Apr 10, 2007 Out of a 12oz. bottle, encore 100 bbl series. Moderate toasted nut aroma. Dark brown almost black color with little head. Flavor is malts to coffee and chocolate. Finish is very smokey with a bacon taste. badgerben (3074), Blaine, Minnesota, USA Aug 9, 2007 Thanks to Brewfiend on this one. Dark brown color with a medium head. Good aroma of smoke. It strikes me as more of the beachwood than peat. Very dry malt taste with lots of smoke. Definitely no mistaking what’s in this beer.
