COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
We decided to brew this beer after Rich and Dan visited Cologne, Germany, the birthplace of the Kölsch style. They loved the subtlety of the flavor and appreciated the craftsmanship required to make a beer like this consistent and good. We were on the lookout for a new summer seasonal at the time and the Kölsch, with its refreshing flavor and crisp finish, seemed like a perfect fit.

Description
Our version of the traditional German Kölsch-style ale. This beer, which is light and refreshing, appears to resemble a lager rather than an ale. The Kölsch style is a testimony to the broad spectrum of characteristics an ale can produce, as well as the brewer’s art. The body is soft and delicate with a dry, crisp finish. Available April thru September.

This is a great example of this style. Compares favorably to Reissdorf. Awesome summer session beer.

Thank God it’s only brewed in the Koelsh tradition and isn’t actually Koelsch, because Koelsch tastes like ass. This is a great summer beer, with a light start and a nice subtly fruity aftertaste.

Reviewed from notes. The appearance had a clear yellow colored body with a soft white lumpy head that lasts about a good three minutes. It leaves some lacing around the sides of the glass and it slides nicely down their sides as the beer goes down. The carbonation is slowly rising. The smell had some lemon and wheaty grains, basically balanced well. The taste was mostly sweet through the lemon and the wheaty grains, leaves you wanting more. The palate was light yet well balanced with a clean finish in this. This is a pretty sessionable beer. Overall, this makes actually a very good summer beer. I’ve had several of these before I decided to give a it a review so I could be as fair as possible. I would definitely have this again. I wasn’t actually expecting it to be this good. This may be my favorite by Harpoon. Well done!

Pours yellow and cloudy at first with a white head. Once the carbonation settles, the beer becomes mostly clear with very little noticeable carbonation. Smell is of coriander, meadows and bananas. Taste is slightly sweet with elements of hay, freshly cut grass and an orange peel hint on the finish. The finish is overall not as foamy as a good kolsch, but otherwise great for a hot humid day.

Harpoons summer beer is a great hot weather beer, very refreshing. Good wheat beer with a citrus vibe. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

One of the best summer time mass produced beers. So much flavor in a ’light’ brew. Nice light malt sweetness with an earthy hop bite. Just a quality brew.

I was pleasantly surpised by this. t’s light looking and citrusy smelling. A pleasant aroma. Flavor full, albeit a tad watered down. Nonetheless, a very good summertime drink. Cool and refreshing. It get’s bonus point in overall for that. Seeing as how it’s widely available in my area, and it’s a good beer, I imagine I’ll be drinking quite a few of these.

Nice golden color, great citrus sweet aroma. Light tasting but very flavorful, lemon clean refreshing taste. Perfect balance of hops. Very good beer for the summer!
