BigSkyman007 (192), USA Oct 17, 2004 Very boring hefeweizen...usual yellow/cloudy color, very slight hints of citrus. Kinda yeasty tasting...
ChainGangGuy (1808), Kennesaw, Georgia, USA Jan 4, 2009 $1.49 12 oz. single at Total Wine & More in Kennesaw, Georgia.
Appearance: Pours a slightly cloudy, yellow body with a small, white head.
Smell: Cream-scented wheat malt nose with notes of vanilla and citrus and banana puree.
Taste: Lightly sweetish wheat malt, again, a bit creamy, like a dash of half-n-half was added. Citrusy character, but it’s a bit fleeting. A few drops of vanilla. Faint banana fruitiness. Mild hop component and accompanying bitterness. Finishes crisp, with a tiny pinch of white pepper emerging in the aftertaste.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium-plus, somewhat lively carbonation.
Drinkability: A fine, light wheat ale, but it’s certainly no hefe. It’s refreshing, sure, but a bit lacking overall. If you’re looking for an authentic hefeweizen, you best look elsewhere. nathan30533 (55), Dahlonega, Georgia, USA Jan 3, 2009 Smells like a wheat, taste like a wheat, must be a wit? no it’s a wheat beer! Does sort of look like a Hoegarden but not even close in aroma, flavor, palate. Good brew but not great. ROGUE (388), Newark, Delaware, USA Dec 30, 2008 12oz bottle. The beer is a pale cloudy light gold color with a medium white frothy head that disapates quickly. Smell of wheat malt, spices, and some fruitiness make up the aroma. The flavor is sweet malts, yeast, citrus and bitter hops. A light-bodied beer with high carbonation.
HonkeyBra (614), Lemont, Illinois, USA Dec 28, 2008 Pours yellow with a big white head. Lots of carbonation. Sweet, wheaty aroma. Flavor is like cardboard. Absolute cardboard. This is a fat turd of a wheat ale. maugus4ever (76), Winston-Salem, North Carolina, USA Dec 21, 2008 Pours a hazy yellow with a white head and decent lacing. Slight aroma of lemon and citrus. I did not have mine with a lemon slice, but I was not impressed with this hefeweizen. I might need to try it with the lemon next time. Maybe that will give me a better experience.
