3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draft at Brass Tap Trinity. Pours a cloudy amber that becomes more clear as the beer sits. Some lacing at the top of the glass but little to none the rest of the way down the glass. Aroma is heavy on cinnamon and nutmeg plus some pumpkin. Flavor is pretty decent with some roasty malt notes in the finish.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Best before December 10, 2012.
Appearance: Cloudy pumpkin colored body with a thick and rocky tan head that dissipates quickly to just a light coating.
Aroma: The aroma is interesting, at times it seems a bit too heavy on the spices, reminiscent of those pinecone spiced scented bundles, but other times it has a nice pumpkin with a light spiced backing.
Taste: Pumpkin is right away on the intro and the spices are rather subdued with, light cloves on the finish is all I taste.
Palate: Medium to thick bodied, light carbonation. Creamy consistency.
Overall: This is an okay pumpkin beer with a slightly different approach than other pumpkin beers, but it misses on some points.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20
12oz bottle courtesy of youbrewidrink, thanks man! Hazy orange appearance, cloudy really which is no surprise given that it is unfiltered. Smells of spice and spice and more spice. Flavor is the same, more spice than pumpkin and really nothing that wowed me. Overall, I am not a fan of pumpkin beers to start and this is one of the lesser ones I have tasted.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
On their website, Harpoon describes UFO Pumpkin as being inspired by pumpkin pie and I suppose I would agree with that for the most part. Iíve had other pumpkin brews that are much more pie-like, but this beer is in the ballpark at least.
I poured a 12oz bottle into a mug.
Appearance: Rusty orange color thatís so hazy itís opaque (due to the fact itís an unfiltered beer). Forms an average size, beige, soapy head, but it quickly evaporates and leaves almost no lacing on the glass.
Smell: A light potpourri aroma thatís quite sweet. Cinnamon and nutmeg are prominent.
Taste: Cinnamon seems to be the most predominant flavor in this palate. Such much so that it actually reminds me more of homemade applesauce with a dusting of cinnamon rather than a true pumpkin pie taste. Not that thatís bad or anything, just that Harpoon UFO Pumpkin is all about the cinnamon. In fact, thatís why itís a just plain good beer rather than anything better because thereís not much complexity going on here.
The beginning is mild, slightly watery, with a subtle bitterness through the middle. The ending, not surprisingly, features a strong cinnamon spicy sweetness with a residual nutmeg flavor in the aftertaste. Itís sweet, but not cloying or rich. Itís probably best described as the sweetest "pumpkin potpourri" pumpkin beer ever. Iíve had better, Iíve had wors, but for it is - this is decent.
Drinkability: I have a feeling Harpoon UFO Pumpkin is meant to be a drinker-friendly brew and if thatís what theyíre going for they definitely succeeded. The palate is flavorful but not overwhelming and the mouthfeel is comfortable enough that itís no challenge to get down. Slightly thin but not tepid with a smooth finish and relatively clean aftertaste make it a quaffable brew. It seems to be pretty efficient at 5.9% ABV. Drinkers of all experience levels should have no trouble with multiple servings.

UPDATED: NOV 13, 2012 Bottle. Pours orange and cloudy. Cinnamon is heavy in the aroma. Taste is initially a quick hit of nutmeg and allspice. Quickly fades away to nothing and falls flat. No real follow through. Easy to drink, but I donít know I could do multiple in a row with the spice combo.

Bottle from Shawan liquors. Pours orange with a thin white head. Slightly sweet pie notes on the nose. taste is a little thin. thankfully it doesnít have the artificial vibe so many pumpkin beers have. Still itís not that memorable of a beer.
