COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Imagine a pumpkin vine wound its way in a field of barley, and a brewer harvested it all to make a beer. Add Northwestern hops and a blend of spices, and you’ve got UFO Pumpkin. The malt combination provides a smooth body and slightly sweet flavor, which balances perfectly with the earthy notes derived from the pure pumpkin. And like all of our UFO beers, UFO Pumpkin is unfiltered so all the wonderful flavors are right there in your glass. Cheers!

Color is cloudy pumpkin orange with a whote head that dissolves in to a thin ring and surface foam. Nose is distinctively spicy and pumpkin - yes, pumpkin. Spice is dominant but not overpowering. Slight sweetness upfront. Spicy aftertaste. Very good for under 6% alc. Why is it the high grav ales make the best Pumpkin Ale?

12oz bottle poured into glass. 1st official pumpkin beer of the year! Aroma has pretty good hints of pumpkin and spice but is more like burning incense then anything. Flavor is a tad sweet and geared more towards the malts here. All in all not too bad.

Bottle with Ann a couple years back, poured clear orange. Nutmeg, earthy pumpkin, spotty lacing. Good beer that caught me off guard.

Harpoon’s UFO Pumpkin is the first of the pumpkin beers to arrive this fall. I was really excited for it, because I’m a huge fan of the pumpkin beers like Pumking and Punkin’. Pours a nice medium-amber color, with a slightly off-white foam. The foam is fairly thick at first, but fades pretty quickly, and leaves behind only a very small amount of lacing. For being part of their "UFO" series, it’s pretty clear and not hazy at all really. It smells exactly like pumpkin pie, if someone were sitting at the other end of the table eating pumpkin pie that is. You can definitely pickup hints of pumpkin and spice, but it’s not overwhelming, definitely on the milder side. It tastes, well, like someone on the other end of the table was eating pumpkin pie. There’s definitely a touch of pumpkin, just a hint of cinnamon and spice, but that’s about it. It reminds me very much of the Pumpkinhead from Shipyard, but just slightly better. I don’t find anything wrong with this beer, except that it’s not impressive really. Great pumpkin beer, if you’re not really a big fan of pumpkin beers. Or, if you are a big fan of pumpkin beers, and your favorite pumpkin beer is the Shipyard Pumpkinhead. Because let’s face it, the Pumpkinhead smells like pumpkin, but doesn’t really taste like much of a pumpkin beer.

OK, after a positive letter from the IRS, this beer hast to taste good. Looks like any other punky beer, somethin like a heff. Smell is spicy punky sweet. Quite strong on the initial taste bud blast. Pretty good CO2, good sizzle down the hatch. Some medicinal attributes on the finish.

Cloudy, rustic looking medium gold pour with a thin layer of foam on top. Aroma has some sweet notes of cinnamon, brown sugar, and nutmeg, with slight bitter balance of pumpkin. Taste is vegetal, with an odd bitter finish for the pumpkin ale style. None of the sweetness or spices from the aroma really come through in the taste. Leaves a lasting grassy bitterness on the tongue. Quite odd, and fairly unpleasant. Makes me wish I had a time machine so I could go back and kick myself in the nuts instead of buying all these awful New England pumpkin ales.

FROTHINGSLOSH (3947) - GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA - NOV 1, 2011
Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a hazy caramel-brown color with a small soapy orange-white head that left some lacing. The aroma was sour and tangy with moderate nutmeg and cinnamon. The flavor was very bitter and tart with a cider vinegar presence and some nutmeg and cinnamon followed by more vinegar. Long and bitter finish. Medium body. Not good.

Pour is hazy orange/brown with a thin white head. Aroma is light with some apple pie and nutmeg spices. Flavor is spicy with some slight pumpkin pie in the finish but pretty thin/mellow throughout. Good carbonation and crisp finish. Light bodied.

Poured from the tap into a pint glass. The color is a light yellowish/amber with a finger of foamy white head and some slight lacing left on the glass. The smell is spicy with some pumpkin in the nose but does not stay around very long. The taste is sweet with some spicy tones mixed with some malty flavor that holding the body together. Some nice pumpkin flavor is throughout this beer but does fade a little too fast. The feel of this beer is light and crisp with a refreshing feel to it. It goes down rather easy and males for a good fall beer .
