Harpoon UFO Raspberry Hefeweizen

Bottle. Soft ruby-amber pour with a tall fizzy white head. The aroma wafts all over the room. I can smell berries, raspberry and maybe strawberry, with soft grains and sweet malt. Taste brings some slightly tart berries, mild yeast, grains, cereal, and sweet malt. Body is light but very fizzy and carbonated. Lots of bubbles and burping with this one. Finishes with more berry notes, yeast, cereal grains, dusty malt and some tartness. Not bad!

Rating #300! A bit of a backlog, and I thought this "beer" would be a great one for the ol’ 3-0-0. Bottle. Smells like Raspberry-Strawberry-Mango Tropicana Twister. Tastes like Raspberry-Strawberry-Mango Tropicana Twister. Is alcoholic juice, and therefore quite difficult to rate on a scale designed for beer.

Pours pink and heady, aroma of raspberries, crisp, tart mouthfeel and flavor highlighted by the raspberry notes, some maltiness but not much, no hefe character which makes this a standard American style wheat beer. Pretty refreshing and not too sweet, a nice summer beer.

Bottle. Pours a light pink/red, cloudy, with a white head. Aroma of cranberry and raspberry juice. Flavor of tart raspberry, juice, barely any wheat. This tastes like juice. If you want some fruit juice, this is a good choice. If you want some beer, not so much. None of the hefe notes penetrate the sugary fruit juice of this beer. Yuck.

Pours hazy amber with a tinge of red. Aroma is riddled with raspberrys and wheat. Flavor is sweet, but not cloying with bucketloads of raspberry and sweetness. Palate is a bit acidic and watery. This one didn’t do it for me.
