3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 Thorpe429 (3823) - Alexandria, Virginia, USA - MAY 31, 2011
Reviewed from notes.
Pours a dark brown color with a thin tan head and a spot or two of lacing on the edges of the glass. The nose is really nice, bringing forward a moderate amount of roast before adding in some sour cherries and other dark fruit. Moderate lactic presence as well as a light touch of woody character. The flavor has some brisk acidity plus cherries and some dark fruits. Slightly vinous. Feel is fairly light with a good acidity leading to a dry acidity. A pretty nice brew and certainly a good early attempt at a sour.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Glouglouburp (4783) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - MAY 17, 2011
In short: A semi-funky and mildly sour caramelized brown ale. Very nice and easy to drink
How: Tap at Extreme Beer Fest 2011
The look: Cloudy brown body topped by a medium beige head with good retention
In long: Nose is a bit funky with toasted woody notes. Taste is a fun mix of nutty caramelized cereals, medium funk, notes of berries, mild sourness, almost no acidity. Far from an intense beer (relative to the style) this was an easy to drink Sour/Wild. I really liked this one. Another nice find at Extreme Beer Fest. I’ve killed so many brain cells with beer during that beer week-end that I think I lost 40 IQ points and Oh My God! we totally need a Republican party in Canada too.

Draft at EBF. Pours a hazy bruin body with an off white head. Sour bruin notes, a hint acetic, funky brett like tones. Dry leather and very little acidity. Soft and modestly sour. Nice offering.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 deyholla (3528) - Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA - MAR 19, 2011
Sampled from the tap at EBF. Poured a cloudy brown with a slight ruby hue with an off-white head that dissipated to the edges. Aroma had some tart red fruits that was me with some funk and a bit of a bread backing. Flavor was a bit thin with some funk and some dry tart fruits coming out in the finish. Good but needed a bit more umph!
