aracauna (2195), Georgia, USA Apr 29, 2008 I’m a little disappointed by this one. It pours perfectly clear, and filtered weizenbocks seems a little sacrilegious somehow. There’s a touch of cherry and dried fruit in this. A very faint tartness.
Nate (2166), Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 7, 2008 From bottle. Raw wort with light caramel. Bit of vanilla and some light fruity hops. Touch of oaky character. Radiant golden amber, dark with thin off-white lacing head. Medium heavy watery body with medium carbonation. Smooth with alcohol warming. Starts sweet with smooth raisin, oak, and vanilla. Warming plum and brown sugar. Light neutral bitterness at the finish with smooth after. Nice quaff but not what I’d call a typical Weizenbock. Naka (362), Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 5, 2008 Courtesy of Nate. Pours a dark copper red color with a small white fizzy head. The aroma has some notes of vanilla, oak, alcohol, some prunes, raisins, and heavy cream. A little hot, but has some good woody vanilla flavors. Dark fruit like currants, a little golden raisin, and fruity alcohol. A pretty oily texture. Very little carbonation in this one, but the nice body of the beer keeps it from being too watery. santoslhalper (160), Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 5, 2008 Thanks to Nate for sharing! This is the first of the 100 barrel series I’ve had the pleasure of trying, but I’ve always wanted to. Nice copper body with a rich off-white head. Worty sweet aroma with syrupy, maple, molasses, brown sugar, banana, and pepper notes. The taste is tremendously sweet, almost cloying, and slightly acidic, with hints of banana, clove, cream, pepper, and herbal notes. Slightly warming, and very full in the belly. Not an easy sipping beer for sure. Chocolate and caramel notes come out strong as it warms, but so does the alcohol. dpjuart (500), Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 3, 2008 22 oz. bottle courtesy of Nate shared with Exec Board. Pours brown with amber hues. Fizzy head that quickly dissipates to nothing. Nose is wheat, cherry, caramel, mild banana and alcohol. Lightly fizzy, medium to full body. Caramel with banana apple raisin with an alcohol head that lingers. Decent WB. boto (1191), Granby, Connecticut, USA Jun 23, 2008 22oz. bottle: This one pours with a fizzy, beige head that went away almost immediately. It pours a clear, darker amber color with perhaps a tinge of ruby to it. Somewhat sweet aroma. There are notes of toffee and caramel, some subtle fruits and a hint of clove. The taste is good. A nice mix of caramel, a hint of roastiness, faint bananas and clove. Somewhere between medium and full bodies, with a slight slickness on the tongue. Pretty decent brew.
