I have enjoyed this wonderful winter ale around Christmas for the last 16 years. This is a nice annual treat. The cinnamon and nutmeg are subtle and this ale is well balanced. Think I will grab another 6-pack before this is gone from the shelf until next year. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

12 oz. bottle poured at my brotherís place in Methuen, MA. Pours a cloudy amber color with minimal head. Smells like cinnamon and nutmeg. Tastes about the same. Might be good at Christmas but iím not loving it in July. Drinkable though.

Can from Signal Variety Plaistow, NH. Aroma is holiday spice--cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice. Appearance is crystal clear amber with minimal sparkle and 1 finger width off white fluffy head with only fair retention and minimal lacing. Taste is like the nose--mainly spice. Itís not so much a beer with hints of holiday spice but a holiday spice drink that qualifies as a beer. Palate is medium bodied, moderately thick with lively carbonation with a little bit of a zing at the tip of the tongue. Finish is mostly spice and short with hint of bitterness. This is an enjoyable holiday beer. No complexity and not terribly interesting but for a particular mood at a certain time of year it would fit the bill.

Nice caramel brown color and decent aroma, but this ale goes downhill from there. Spices but not much malt in the flavor. Unpleasant finish. A whole lot of better winter ales than this attempt are out there.

UPDATED: FEB 4, 2015 Bottle. Pours a brownish color with white head. Cinnamon, spice, toast aromas. Cinnamon, nutmeg, spice bomb, brown sugar, toast flavors. This is a spice bomb Christmas beer. This is the type of beer that Iíd maybe be in the mood for once or twice a year, but in many ways it is just an overly spiced caricature of a seasonal style Iím not too fond of.

A nice aroma but not very strong. Very nice cloudy brown body and very thin white suds. Smooth on the palate and a subtle aftertaste. The flavor has a nice winter spice to it. - Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

[Bottle] Pours a deep amber hue with minimal head. Nose is of cinnamon, nutmeg and hints of anise. Taste is heavy on the spices. More cinnamon and some ginger mixes with caramel and bready malts. Lighter dark rum and brown sugar in the finish. Better balance compared to many beers of this style.

Clear mahogany pour with a nice off white head and nice lacing. Strong spice aroma with nuts and toffee in the background. Nutmeg is dominant in the flavor with cinnamon, caramel, and toast in there as well. Medium body.

I thought that this would have rated higher until I actually plugged in the numbers. Pours a bright copper color with a nice tan head. Strong cinnamon aroma with cinnamon, nutmeg, and brown sugar flavors. Could be described as a cider-like ale. A decent substitute to 2X Xmas from southern tier.

Pours a clear amber color with. Diminishing head. Aroma of cinnamon and nutmeg and taste is the same. A nice beer for a cold winter day. A little less spice than ST 2xmas. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Aroma is predominantly cinnamon with just a touch of brown sugar and nutmeg. Pours a clear red with a thin off-white head. This is very cinnamon forward, overpowering the nutmeg and the hops. This is just a bit under being a cinnamon bomb, but thatís the only flavor Iím pulling out of it besides a little malt sweetness. Not bad, just a bit heavy handed with cinnamon
