3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle, 11/8/2014. Labeled as íThe Belgium Tempest Saisoní, but clearly not a saison. Pours dark amber/burnished copper, clear, a few wispy motes of foam on the surface, some lacing. Aroma is candied pear, peach, orange, doughy underones, some yeast. Taste is similar, almost syrupy fruit and malt notes, touch of vanilla, some spiciness with moderate herbal bitter finish. Medium body. Ok, but would not be the first tripel or saison I reach for.

Aroma is sweet and clovey. Flavor is full but mouthfeel is lacking body. Decent tripel but needs more yeast characteristic

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottled. New Zealand holiday 2011-12. Old notes. The aroma has some malt sweetness, some yeast estery tones. Amber coloured beer with an off-white head. The taste is moderate bitter, bit alcoholic, somewhat fruity, has some spicy yeast going on. Quite some carbonation.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
One of Harringtons better brews in my book. Has all the Belgian beer attributes and only lacks the subtlety/smoothness of the real thing.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
I tell you what, itís a saucy looking minx this one. I poured this beer and then fought a half hour running battle with Mrs Jimthechap (domestic bliss, nothing serious) and even returning to it after that time it had a sexy molten marshmallow head on a clear golden body. Itís a looker and I wonít tell you its human equivalent because Mrs Jimthechap still hasnít settled down completely. The aroma is of typically golden Belgian ale malt with wafting aromas of warm bakery. It isnít the strongest aroma, but it is enjoyable in its subtlety. It has a thick body with golden sweetness strongly reminiscent of the style. Flavours of creamy orange citrus abound and nice twinges of gentle bitterness. Thereís a nice lingering juicy orange flavour on the finish. Somebody did something right brewing this.

3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Aroma contains some lemon, something else, very subtle. Taste begins with an explosion of sweet syrupy dark fruitiness with a hint of spice, and finishes with a sort of musty woody maltiness. Interesting but not particularly enjoyable. The sweetness is just too cloying. Itís big and rough on the palate too, that 8% really shows. Probably wouldnít buy this again unless it was on special. The new labels are much nicer than the old ones though.

Draft at the source courtesyof staff, thank you! Clear golden color. Aroma of earthy and musty lemon and grapefruit. Taste is sweet, boozy citrus.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
explodes with aggressive alcohol with a bit of dark fruit and yeastiness around. to be honest itís a bit much, very rough. however itís also interesting enough and i enjoyed tasting it for sure.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
UPDATED: MAR 22, 2015 "Ghastly, I donít know how else to describe this confused disaster. There is too much musty, not enough sweet, plastic banana , no head, but the worst thing to recap is a cloying mustiness aroma.
This time though - the should concentrate on STRONG LAGER for this and go al -in as this could be spectacular, it really could, this current version 7% ABV and "Belgium Trappist:" isnít bad, whoever owns this at the brewery needs to face up they made a wrong choice years ago and what they though isnít what is now.
Do that they have a real winner, and Iím not an expert, but Iíd bet on it.
