3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
A full bodied, full flavoured lager.
The head dissapears a little, the flavours are frontal, the rich malt flavours spread across the mid palate, but the alcohol unsettles the finish. At 7.2% not bad for a beer from the South Island.
Will I be back?

2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Bottle. Golden with a white head. Big malt and alcohol aroma. The flavour is the same. No bitterness whatsoever. Has that alcohol warming in the finish. Easy to drink. I sure didnít pick this up in anticipation of a complex beer...a few pints though and you may wake up the next day in a compromised situation.

2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Aroma is a mix of Citrus & floral notes, reminiscent of the Knappstein LAger so I can only assume Sauvin hops are at play here. Appearence is golden yellow with lingering white head. Flavour upfront is dry spiciness which moves to a bready mid palate and finishes with a lot of alcohol heat courtesy of the 7.2 ABV. About as good as this style gets, which really isnít saying a huge amount.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Iíve had this before. Itís never done it for me. This version (BB 12/09) is just amazing. The ultimate malt vehicle. Biscuity/bready mallt, little hop to speak off, yet balanced enough. Not too sweet. A really tasty beer - I could drink a lot of it but I might die at 7.2% ABV.

2.1 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
Cuts to the chase, doesnít it. Surprisingly easy drinking for its strength, but the alcohol flavour and aroma donít do it for me.

2.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
Pours a clear, very flat looking yellow.
Aroma is straw-like, with some candy sweetness. Hints of citrus and vanilla.
Very flat mouthfeel.
Flavours are quite bready, with a sweet candy malt. Iím not really sure what to think...
Lots of caramel, and the alcohol is very obvious. I have trouble enjoying this one. Not really my thing.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Purchased 01.08.09 at New World Frankton, NZ, 500ml bottle. Pours hazy gold, white head. Aroma is kiwi, tangerine. Flavor is hoppy and sweet, bitter and syrupy. I can taste the alcohol, it warms a bit. Could be better blended but this is the best malt liquor Iíve ever had.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours cloudy golden with white mostly diminishing head. Sweet malty aromas, some spice & fruit as well. A strong flavoured lager, sweet but balanced with some bitter hops. Don’t know if I’d call this a malt liquor!

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle, pours a clear and dark gold with a white creamy head. A light aroma of sweet malt, a little bready. A full mouthfeel, very bitter on the palate, with a creamy sweet malt flavour. The strong alcohol presence ("crude" as Papsoe writes) makes it a difficult swallow and Iím suprised this comes in a 500ml bottle. Different though, Iíll give them that.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
(Bottle 33 cl) Clear golden with a small, rough head. Sweet aroma of malt and alcohol. Quite full-bodied with plenty of sweet malt and brewing syrup. The finish is clean, crude alcohol. Drinkable though. 210208
