3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Tonybaldeagle (29) - - APR 27, 2013
More a porter than an ale. Very flavoursome with earthy tones and toasted marshmallow & coffee out of the fridge, but the flavours mature as it warms. The head doesn't last and looks more like coke. Leaves a dry palate asking for more to whet the whistle.

Med brown, light malt aroma (nuts, vague caramel)... Ok mild, kind of like what you’d get in BC.

500ml bottle in NZ. Clear dark reddish-brown colour with ample creamy latte-like head. Nose is dark chocolate malts and a little bit of roasted coffeebeans. Palate is creamy-smooth but still quite light bodied with similar flavours to the nose. Finishes with a light dry hop bitterness. More a Porter than a "mild dark ale" like it states on the label. Enjoyable.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 Cantabrian (384) - Christchurch, NEW ZEALAND - NOV 21, 2012
Nice, pleasant, mild porter. The looks are not too exciting, pouring dark brown with a very feeble, extra bubbly head that disappears faster than in a can of coke. But the aromas are nice and plumy, with chocolates and roasted malts. Flavours follow the aroma, with a tad of bitterness and a creamy feel on the palate. Very similar to Harrington’s Dark, but with a less sticky feel to the tongue. Who knows if it’s just the same? I’d have it again, anytime.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20 Jado (254) - Camp Hill, AUSTRALIA - OCT 11, 2012
500 ml bottle. Pours a deep brown with red highlights and a very thin white head. Roasted malts and a little coffee on the nose. The taste is coffee, mild smoke and dark fruits. The finish is quite dry. Body is pretty thin and the palate finishes abruptly. Value price in Oz is an added plus.

500ml btl. Clear, reddish root beer brown with a beige head of fine bubbles leaving moderate lace. Malty, molasses and chocolate nose. Light body with vigorous, fine carbonation. Chocolate, molasses, pepper, coffee and dark-roasted malt. Short, astringent and faintly sweet finish. Very sessionable.

Dark chocolate colour with rosy notes, white head that subsided quickly. Coffee, grated dark chocolate and charry characters, maybe a touch of hickory smoke? Quite creamy initially and then a lovely cascade of bubbles slides over the palate bringing chocolate flakes and sweeter flavours with it on quite a refreshing finish. A little bit paradoxical in that way, but certainly a tasty beer.
