Had the ’Mild Dark Ale’ version. Nice roasty choc malt aroma. Hops seem at odds with the malt forward style. Thin bodied, poor head retention.

Bottled. New Zealand holiday 2011-12. Old notes. The aroma has light chocolate tones, bit toasty. Clear, dark brown-black coloured beer with an off-white, thin head. The taste is light bitter, toasted, has bread, some flower.

330ml bottle BB 9 Dec 2014 Pours near black with a decent head. Feel: Near medium body and nicely smooth; low but adequate carbonation. Aroma: not particularly appealing; medium and dark roasted malts with a bit of dankness. Flavor: similar to the aroma. O: neither one of the better brews from Harrington nor a particularly good example of this style. Acceptable but not recommended.

Pours dark brown. Head is tan coloured and there isn’t much of it. Aroma is acidic and of sweet roasted malt. Taste is amazing. Light bodied. Smokey, sweet caramel, peaches. Aftertaste is of the same with subtle bitterness.

the better side of harrington’s...very roasted and charred coffee, which can sometimes get a bit tiresome in dark beers, but it’s still very nice and i think this is preferable to the wobbly boot porter.

More a porter than an ale. Very flavoursome with earthy tones and toasted marshmallow & coffee out of the fridge, but the flavours mature as it warms. The head doesn't last and looks more like coke. Leaves a dry palate asking for more to whet the whistle. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Med brown, light malt aroma (nuts, vague caramel)... Ok mild, kind of like what you’d get in BC.

500ml bottle in NZ. Clear dark reddish-brown colour with ample creamy latte-like head. Nose is dark chocolate malts and a little bit of roasted coffeebeans. Palate is creamy-smooth but still quite light bodied with similar flavours to the nose. Finishes with a light dry hop bitterness. More a Porter than a "mild dark ale" like it states on the label. Enjoyable.
