You can smell the roasted malts with a hint of coffee . It’s a nice dark beer with a big bubbled head . The label mentions a chocolate taste. I do get a slight hint of it but probably more a coffee flavor . Feels nice in the mouth although a touch weak Over all a nice porter but it is just missing something

Dark caramel malt, malted milk balls, wet dog hair, starchy and stale chocolate, licorice, yeast powder, soil. Thin body throughout, very watery and flabby with no malt support. A pointless beer. Harringtons is very "crafty" in their label design and naming, but their beer just plain sucks.

330ml BB 12 Dec 2014 Pours near black with a decent head. Feel: Near medium body and nicely smooth; low but adequate carbonation. Aroma: medium and dark roasted malts with hints of roasted nuts and stewed prunes. Flavor: similar to the aroma, but less fruity and more nutty. Feel: Near medium body and nicely smooth; low but adequate carbonation. O: a solid porter.

2 L bottle. Fair aroma of chocolate. Pours a nice dark reddish black, with a tan head. Smooth, chocolate taste, fairly sweet with very little bitterness.

first impressions were of chocolate and cola, especially with the fizziness straight out. quite sweet and not overtly roasted. rather light for a porter. not bad, good for a standard porter if there’s nothing else around, but still fairly uninteresting.

Nice standard porter. Nice amount of roasty flavours to keep me happy. Slightly thin for my liking. Solid but not to exciting.

Appears dark brown with tawny port notes in the dimple of the glass. Not a lot of head to speak of, more a film on top of the body of the beer that is latte-caramel in colour. Aromas of dark chocolate, raisins and port wine. Some cinnamon and spice there. Cool and chocolately in the mouth with a silky texture as if there were some oats used. Lipsmacking and sweetish toward the finish with only a faint bitterness to carry the finish. A good go to dark ale. I’d have another.

UPDATED: OCT 13, 2013 Re-rate in October 2013 - Much better aroma, fruity, with brackberries, currants and a touch of bourbon. The flavour was rather smokey also. Seems much improved. [Old rating -->]This is one of the porters that has got me into drinking "fancy" beers. However, I had a different memory of this Wobbly Boot. Either the batches are inconsistent or my perception has changed. The aroma..well, which aroma? There’s nothing I can get out of it. If I try too hard I get something unpleasant, but perhaps that’s from the lining of my nostrils anyway. Pours black, as it should, with an almost white, generous head. Looks classy! Flavours of chocolate, quite milky, and malty, but not much charred. This is a good outcome! Palate is thin, unfortunately, with a bit of a fizzy feel in the end. Not perfect, after all, but still a lovely, very likeable beer. If Harringtons dropped some lactose in it, that would make a fabulous milk stout!
