hand pumped at cellar temperature at the brewpub bar. pours with the color of dark tea, with negligible head. aroma of bitter evergreen and citrus. flavor is bitter and evergreeny with no citrus notes. bitter without being exciting. medium bodied. the taste does grow on you, and i filled my growler with it. at $7 for 2 liters, i didnt think i could go all that wrong.

Had this one on draught at the brewpub in Orland Park, Illinois. Cask ale, hand pumped. Dark red, hazy pour, with a big, bubby foamy head, very bitter with notes of rose, lots of hops. Outstanding.

Cask. Semi-cloudy and ruby-amber-orange in color with a moon rock pocked head, resembling krausen in fine form. Grapefruit and grass stains instantly capture the nose for loving longevity, pursued by strawberry magic markers, freesia buds and lemon grass. It’s quite alluring at this stage of the game. Mild clover and mango bitterness creeps in with a waxy rhubarb drone. Flavor evolutions revolve around EKG hop pellets – sucking and absorbing the alpha acids as if it’s an oral prophylactic. Acidic and very green at the stems with a dry creeping bitterness that spans from the rooftop of the mouth and works its way down. Marigolds and ragweed tickle the tonsils with alcohol swab status, but it’s surprisingly enjoyable yet incorrigible. Pollinated hops spurge forth with post-gestational burps while buffed mango rinds and earthen chomped dandelions bring up the rear.

Served room temperature as an incredibly dense hazelnut/copper with a creamy head that laced in a solid sheet. Aromas are grapefruit with dishrag and acrid notes. Flavor holds thorough bitterness with citric notes but nothing too special. <i>Nitro pint at Harrison’s.</i> This may be improving under their new brewer, but still needs a long way to go. served properly "warm" and hand-pulled. A thin head that coats instead of lacing the glass. Cloudy orange color. Slight biscuity malt that’s overwhelmed by hop bitterness. A touch or earth, grapefruit and pine needles, but mostly just bitter. A perceptible alcohol burn, too. Yes, Mabel, there is an aftertaste, so I don’t see it being ordered by many of the cigar-smoking yuppies here. I think Harrison’s is slowly improving, but they need to learn more subtlety.
