A hazy orange beer with a lazing white head. The aroma is sweet with notes of straw - and so is the flavor, though also with notes of hops, leading to a dry end. A very simple beer.

My girlfriend brought this back for me from England. Bottle. A very average beer that begs for something- hops, malt, whatever- to stand up and make a statement. This beer is too comfortable being middle of the road for my liking. A bit watery on the palate, and the aftertaste is in line with that.
2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 Crockett (960) - Steelback County, Ontario, CANADA - JAN 30, 2004
UPDATED: FEB 1, 2004 Light frothy head. Gold slightly cloudy. Some grass, wheat, and citrus notes in the aroma. Slight sweetness. Medium carbonation. Has a nice flavour but nothing too exciting. My Dad has brought it back from London on a couple of occasions. I should have asked for something more exotic, but this is the only beer that I knew he would easily find. He was in the hotel across the street from Harrod's. Much more expensive that it's worth.

Harrods’ 1849 Lager is sold in the Harrods Department Store in London, available in 450ml bottles in the Food Hall and in Harrods restaurants. I am not sure of the exact price but it is around £3 for a single bottle. The bottle is swing topped and with the Harrods logo in several places. According to the bottle this lager is brewed exclusively by Hofmark for Harrods in Germany. The lager its self is rather pleasant and smooth, and doesn’t taste too strong despite its rather high alcohol content. It’s a decent lager, but it’s far too expensive, like most things in Harrods.
