Crystal-clear mountain spring water and a touch of roasted malt give this beer its pristine and unforgettable flavour. Craft-brewed from a traditional recipe, Felsentrunk is amber in colour, spiced with a hint of smoke, a tribute to the art of brewing in the Franconia region of Bavaria.

Draught. Dark golden with smallish head. Biscuity malts, dry, somewhat aged flavor. In Bamberg this didn’t impress.

Tolle Bernsteinfarbe, in der Nase leichtes Rauch, setzt sich im Trunk fort. Hintenweg süffig würzig. Tolle Mischung!

Clear orange-amber colour with a light beige frothy head. Aromas of smoked toffee and hay with notes of herbs and spice arise. Lightly carbonated, rather thin texture and lightly bodied. Smokey spice flavours rule the palate. Lasting finish.

Day 3 of the post Xmas Bamberg Jolly, bottle from the Rewe Bamberg shared on the train from Bamberg to Nuremberg, 26/01/14. Rich golden with a good sized off white head. Nose is straw, light citrus, grain, bready malts, faint hops. Taste comprises a bitter lemon twang, touch of spice, bread dough, touch of caramel. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, semi drying closure. Ok stuff but as per Sir Kenneth of Essex - smoked ? First I knew about that was when I saw the style on RB as I entered the rate !

Bamberg Bash Day 3. Train swig. Almost clear amber beer, big pale cream coloured head. Palate is light and airy. Sweetish malt, tangy dried fruits and a little floralness. Whisper of marmalade. Light dry finish. What smoke?

How: Bottle.
Where: Had on a train during the Bamberg Jolly 2014.
Appearance: Amber colour with an off-white head.
Aroma: Malt, caramel, fruit.
Body: Medium body and carbonation.
Flavour: Sweet malt, fruit, caramel. A lack of smokiness. Drinkable, but is it really a smoked?

Ungewöhnlich ist es. Süffig, mit leichten Anleihen von Honig und ordentlich geräuchertem Aal im Abgang. Gar nicht mal so übel wue erwartet.

Oh dear Lord, how did I deserve to get this beer into my online beer order? I am a non-smoker and I just can’t stand smoked beer, but well - what’s there has to be drunk....This awful brew pours out quite nice and innocent: Clear amber colour,, low head, medium body. It all starts with the aroma and this one is quite heavy: Smoked ham of a Polnish delikatessen. Full stop. The taste is right after the palate the worst thing about this beer: Smooked eel, smoked ham, smoke, woods, campfire and malt. Finish of smoked fish. Of all smoked beer experiences (really, I try to avoid them at any time and even if there won’t be new beers at the shops I would never buy a not-yet rated smoked one) this one was by far the mildest and easiest one. Not really delicious either but (compared to other ones in this style) easy to drink. But after all I can say one more: I wll never like or even enjoy this kind of beers.
