The flavor is moderately sweet with a light bitterness and notes of roasted malt, syrup, nuts and hints of chocolate, and the finish has a light bitter and dry end.

Strong malty taste, mild carbonated. Very good beer however not brewed in the Neresheim monastery by the last few monks there.

Bitter and roasted. Quite unpleasant taste when fridge cold, but considerably better when a bit warmer.

(bottle) Clear, dark brown colour with a medium-sized tanned foamy head. Toast-malty aroma with caramel, grainy notes, herbal hops and traces of vanilla. Sweet-bitter flavour, light to medium bodied, calm on carbon. Smoothly toasted malty taste with caramel, subtle dried fruity notes and vanilla; sweet and mildly roasty and hop bitter finish. Surprisingly good compared to the other Härtsfelder beers I had so far. 18.VIII.10

Bottle: Clear, amber coloured, stable medium-sized off-white head; clean grainy and toasty nose with a good fruity (dried fruits) support; moderate sweet-bitter flavour, almost medium bodied; slightly lingering caramelly and also hoppy finish. A very good, well balanced and well rounded Dunkel.....

Bottle: Dark brown color, off-white head. Light sweetish, malty aroma, light hints of caramel and roasted malt. Flavor is light malty, light bitterness in the end. Only some hints of roasted malt.

Bottle. Dark chestnut, fluffy off-white foam. Light roast and honeycake aroma. Subdued flavours: Light roast and leafy herbs, a bit bread, quick finish. Wellrounded mouthfeel. Very quick anonymous finish, frankly boring. I dont beleive for a second this resembles the old monastry recipy.

The bottle looks very simple, the beer in the glass is okay. Starts roasty-malty, quite dry, a bit scratchy finish, but still well balanced. Not bad!

bottle from Getränke Göbel Giengen/Brenz. Dark brown colour with a large and creamy off-white head. Aroma of roasetd malts and chocolate. Full-bodied, malty with flavours of chocolate, dark malts and berries with an earthy character. Slightly hoppy, the hops have a medicinal-herbal character. An interesting and tasty brew.

Bottle. Strong molasses malt aroma. Dark brown with moderate but long lasting head with nice lacing. Chocolate-molasses malt flavor with light grass hops. Finishes on the light side. A bit light but still a very nice beer.
