3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Can, labeled 1836 Classic Chocolate Porter, from TBone. Dark brown color. Strong milk chocolate aroma. Malty flavor with loads of cacao, milk chocolate and raisin. Just a hint of aluminium. Sweetish, very pleasant, almost tasting like chocolate milk. Surprisingly good!

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Somewhat foamy head with a strong chocolate aroma. There’s just the right amount of chocolate in the flavor, which is very much to my liking.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Very dark-brown beer with medium beige head. Lot of chocolate in the aroma also some roasted malts, overall impression is interesting and temptating. There are lot of chocolate in the flavour but roasted malts is found also and so flavour is nice balanced and not only chocolate. Carbonation is little too much and body is slightly thin. Interesting beer from Hartwall and it is great that there are found chocolate in the beer and not only for the name.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Dark brown with small tanned head. Nose is plain artificial milk chocolate. Flavor a little metallic, burned malts and some chocolate. Finishes with little hops. Light to medium bodied with rather coarse carbonation. Could be a bit more natural and fuller.

2.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
500ml Can- Very dark brown with red tinges and a small head. Strong chocolate aroma which reminds me of a mug of hot cocoa. It seems to be too artificial though but is pleasant nonetheless. Strong chocolate taste which dominates too much and must be artificial. A look at the ingredients listed on the can confirms this. Despite this, it is sweet but not sickly. Drinkable but nothing special and this style has the potential to be much better.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
A deep brown body, crimson at the edges, is topped by a foamy, light tan head. Big Hershey’s milk chocolate aroma, huge even. There’s a thin, roasty edge that falls in step with the chocolate and bit of caramel but this is still entirely about the chocolate several minutes in. Fair sweetness up front with a mild acidity towards the end and a hint of roasty bitterness. The flavour is a dead ringer for tootsie roll pops, cool! Seductively, velvety texture on a medium body with just enough carbonation to keep the sweetness from building. This certainly is a one-trick-pony but it’s clean and it does that one trick pretty well. 50cl can, bbe 07/2008.

3.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Can. Amazing strong chocolate aroma with hints of malt. Very dark red beer with nice cocoa head. Taste is milk chocolate with very mild baltic porter hints. Too sweet to my taste. Mild malty aftertaste. Very light body. If you want to drink a really good similar product, try hot cocoa. 160208

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
courtesy of oh6gdx; canned as Chocolate Porter - clear dark ruby colour with a little beige foam and a nice lacing; deep aroma of pralines and chocolate; quite light-bodied, sweet and highly carbonated; late sourness/bitterness before a moderately dry and sour aftertaste of cocoa - not really convincing

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
440ml can. As ’1836 Classic Chocolate Porter’
Dark brown, brief tan head. Very chocolatey aroma. A bit thin, some mocha tastes. Not as much malt as I had hoped. Something also quite weird but I can’t put my finger on it. The beer and the chocolate aren’t particularly well combined, it’s a bit schizophrenic. This is a lager, I presume. Drinkable, not special though.
