Retorp (2156), Tampa, Florida, USA Jul 19, 2008 The aroma is dusty cocoa, chocolate, sweet malt and caramel. The flavor is more of the same with some sweet vanilla and cream notes as well. Thin bodied, but tasty in an after-school glass of chocolate milk kind of way. With more body and a bit of roasted malt I think I;d be a huge fan.
tlind2 (342), Helsinki, Finland Jul 22, 2008 440 ml can. Very dark brown color, tan head. Chocolaty aroma, chocolaty flavor (unsweetened black chocolate). Very one-dimensional. I’d have liked to see more roasted malts and even a bit of hops. omhper (10950), Stockholm, Sweden Jun 22, 2008 Canned (as Hartwall 1836 Classic Chocolate Porter), thanks oh6gdx! Dark brown, rich tan head. Aroma of cocoa powder. Medium dry with clean mouthfeel and light body. Flavour is all cocoa powder with a slight metallic edge and a chocolate sauce finish. A fair attempt, but lack ot talent. bermod (100), Lappeenranta, Finland Jun 12, 2008 Sweet milk chocolate and rye bread aroma. Quite mild and artificial aroma is milk chocolate, sweet caramel and hops in the finish. Ibrew2or3 (1925), Safety Harbor, Florida, USA Jun 7, 2008 Courtesy of CigarCityBrew. First US based rating of this beer.

Pours dark clear amber with thin tan head. The aroma is full on chocolate spanning the range from dark to milk chocolate to go along with some roastiness and graham crackers. Very nice. Just like the aroma there is a ton of chocolatiness in the flavor from tasty dark chocolate to slightly lactose infused milk chocolate. Behind that I can sense burnt malts and faint drying malt astringency. Very nice mix of flavors.
