Draft. Nice reddish brown color. Very malt forward, sweet and bready. There’s an unpleasant bitterness to the taste. Not my favorite.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Above-average Irish ale. Usually I find these dull, boring and lacing flavor. However, this offering was quite the opposite. The Firehouse Red poured an amber color with a thick off-white head and laced nicely around the glass. The nose was really well-balanced, featuring plenty of caramel and bready malts, but also quite a bit of bright hops. The flavors were very solid, delicious and also very well-balanced. I tasted the caramel malt and some bready flavors, but the beer contained quite the hop kick. It’s smooth and drinkable. Nicely done.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
DrAFT AT THE BrEw PUb. Poured a mostly clear reddish amber body with a smaller foamy light beige head. Aroma wasn’t anything special notes of dry grains, light caramel, hint of molasses. Body is medium to slightly fuller with average carbonation and an average duration on the aftertaste. Flavor of dry toast, grains, cereal, molasses, hint of rye seeds and some caramel. Flavor better then the aroma but still a boring style.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Served on draft at the brewpub. I just read the story behind this beer’s name, and basically 15 people survived because firefighter Jimmy D gave his life to save them. That’s a true American and New Jersey hero. Pours a clear reddish amber color with a large creamy head. Decent head retention. Aroma of earthy, almost peaty notes and toffee malts. The taste is similar with a slight lingering bitterness. Medium bodied. Nice beer.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap at Harvest Moon. Pours a hazed caramel ruby amber with a thin white head. Aromas of coffee, toast, cocoa, and nutty malt. Medium bodied, chocolaty roast and toast, nice nutty malt. Lots of body and flavor in here. Unexpected. Slow malty finish with a nice long slow bitterness. Tasty. Coffee and toast linger.
