Poured dark red with a sizable tan head. Smelled like caramel, grain and roasted barley. Toasty taste which was smooth but one dimensional. Ok.

sampler. Pours amber/red, small off white head. Didnít get much of an aroma with this beer. Taste is caramel with some light roasty grain, and it is balanced quite nicely with some bitter and floral hops.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Not spectacular, for an amber or whatever it is. Mildish, not great taste, but I like the cause. More local micros should imitate this.

3.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
08.13.05 Deep copper-red, no head. Malty and rich. Nice bitterness stems from a dirty earth across the body but changes to a sharper and drier bitter at finish. Earth and nuttiness all around. Sweet grain pervades and lingers on the palate in a battle with the driness. Bonus points because itís one of the tastier examples Iíve had of the style, but minus points because itís not even as earthy or peaty as some of their other, less appropriate beers.
