2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 nuplastikk (3275) - Madison, Wisconsin, USA - NOV 19, 2012
12oz bottle. Hazy glowing orange-amber body, foamy off-white head. The aroma is quite mild and subdued, some faint cool hops. Mostly malt centered, pretty mild for an Imperial IPA. Cool and crisp mouthfeel, sort of an Imperial APA. Not really off or bad, just intensely pedestrian, with no big flavors to speak of. Balanced, I suppose, but a very tame offering. Bonus ignorance points for using the suffix -ator in a non doppelbock’s name. Sweet, soapy, a touch syrupy as you sip on it. Sub par.

341ml brown bottle. Golden pour, seems a bit unclear. Mid sized white cap that lasts a while. Nose has some sweet malt notes, caramel and pleasant fruity and citrus hops, mostly sweet and orangey. Taste has grain and caramel at the front, grass and earthy hop midway. Quick bitter finish, lingering grapefruity hops, lighter notes of pine and grass stick around. A bit of alcohol shows up late. Overall decent, tasty, but not super aggressive.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 reebtogi (3262) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - OCT 31, 2012
355ml bottle pours a golden orange color with a small white head that settles quite quickly and leaves very little if any lacing on the glass. Aroma is a little spicy with some grains and caramel. Taste is grainy malt sweetness with an earthy and grapefruit hoppy bitterness. Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. A decent imperial IPA, but nothing really stands out.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Savvy1982 (1705) - Lethbridge, Alberta, CANADA - SEP 1, 2012
Bottle at home, from my Minneapolis Town Hall glass. Pours hazy deep gold with a scanty off-white head and ropey lacing. Nose is lemons, grapefruit, quite herbal with some vegetal notes as well. Some smoky caramel lurking below the hops, too. Flavours of grapefruit, generic citrus, tea, caramel, nice spritzy finish. A decent IIPA, but nothing I’d crawl over broken glass for.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 5000 (4967) - Hardened Liver, Washington, USA - AUG 21, 2012
Bottle: Orange side of amber, slightly hazy and dirty, thin to moderate sudsy white head, spotty lacing. Candied citrus peel, slightly pithy and even a bit fruity. Has a minor cheese aspect... interesting. Hoppy up front yet not biting, sweet pithy and candied citrus peel. Sweetness falls of quick, not too bright or sharp. That cheese aspect somewhat reminds me of the first Mirror Mirror from Deschutes. Somewhat odd to get this. Body and moutfheel are moderate. Finishes soft, low bitterness, somewhat sweet citrus bits, but also a little cheesy. Thanks for the bottle Bob!

Bottle. Pours a clear amber with a tan head that dissipates to the edges and laces. Aroma has a lot of sweet citrus with a hint of bitter grapefruit and a backing spiced bread note. Flavor has more of a pure citrus note upfront that is joined by bitter grapefruit and has the same spiced bread backing. Unique.

Bottle from Hamilton MT. Interesting impy IPA here. This brew is quite fruity with a good deal of sweetness. Not really super hoppy. Seems to have some serious Belgian qualities to it. Not great to style, but a pretty tasty beer, none the less.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Skyview (5023) - Papoose Jct, Minnesota, USA - MAY 8, 2012
Picked up a single 12-oz bottle at Brennan’s Country Farm Market in Brookfield, Wisconsin. Pours a semi-clear medium amber colored IPA with an average sized off-white head that slowly dissipates to a thin film top and some spotty lacing. Aroma of dark pitted fruits, citrus, and a hint of grapefruit. Taste is medium to full bodied, fruity profile flavor with some noble bittern hops, hint of grapefruit zest and some light toffee. Finish is semi-sweet with a medium mild bitterness that slowly disappears with a little alcohol bite.
3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 SHIG (3044) - Anchorage, Alaska, USA - APR 24, 2012
Bottle: Poured a coppery amber with a cream off white head. Aroma is nice bitter hops, but can also pick out some citrus fruit and malts. Taste is a nice hops bitter up front, nice mix of fruit and malts mellow it a bit. Drank nicely overall and hide the alcohol well.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 curly (2394) - Kirkland, Washington, USA - JUL 16, 2011
Pours lightly hazed amber orange with a large long lasting beige head. Aroma of resin, pine needles, wood, herb, grapefruit, dark fruit, lemon, not sure of the hops used in this one, but it reminds me of Sorachi Ace. Taste has lots of fruity and malty sweetness but still a hefty bitter finish, kind of a weird metallic bitter finish.
