3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
In short: A low-sweetness nutty-fudge-cake porter with cigarette butt flavor. Acceptable
How: Bottle 12oz, consumed when probably 6 months of age. A bonus sent to me by Savvy1982, thanks Kyle
The look: Black body topped by a small tan head leaving lots of lacings on the glass
In long: Nose is a bit smoky (cigarette butt), commercial fudge cake bars. Taste also has a commercial fudge cake bar flavor, like eating one of those Cadbury’s individually wrapped fudge bars. There was also that strange flavor that as an ex-smoker I can only describe as ‘chewing on a cigarette filter after smoking the cigarette’. Also some hazelnuts. And that’s pretty much it. Medium body a bit on the oily side. I didn’t care for the cigarette butt character of the beer but it wasn’t overwhelming and in the end it was quite drinkable even if unexciting. And if you can drink a beer called Pigs Ass without giggling all the way through, then clearly we don’t have the same level of maturity.

Great porter but like the name it causes the "pigs ass" effect in the flatulance department.

2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Dark brown with off-white head, lots of deep red showing through the edges. Chocolate, chicory, nuttiness lead the aroma charge here, with some dark fruit for backup. Disappointing cooked green pea a significant distraction. Manages to get a little bit cloying by the time you’re through a pint.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Deep very dark brown in coulour with a very thick foamy brown head. Looks great. Strong coffee aroma with a lot of chocolate as well. Light body with a very strong coffee flavour, finishes in dark chocolate and dry roasty flavours. It is very good but it could use a lot more body. This is a pretty thin porter in my opinion.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle a friend brought back from Montana. Pours a deep brown, almost black, with a small khaki head and a thin layer of yeast that settles at the bottom of the glass. The nose is a blend of caramel, cocoa, and a nondescript fruit note. On the light side of medium-bodied, the palate is fairly effervescent with a mineral quality at the finish. The flavor adds an almost smoky roasted malt flavor to notes found on the nose. It also has a lot less of the sweet fruitiness and adds a bit of salt to the mix. Overall, thus is an interesting porter. Thanks for bringing this back for me, Deana.

Moderately roasted dark malts, light chocolate, a little roasted nuts on the nose. Brown porter seemingly to me. Pours dark brown, thin off white head. Flavors of roasted malts, a little nutty, earthy, lightly sweet chocolate. Easy to drink.
