COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our award winning dark ale which is an original London style, lighter in body than a stout but with the same alcohol content. Brewed with pale, crystal, chocolate and black malts to create a creamy, smooth, roasted, slightly chocolate tasting ale with a bit of hoppiness in the finish. The name comes from the fact that after brewing, the mash is given to a local farmer and there can't be anything better than spent grain from brewing for fattening up a pig.

Deep very dark brown in coulour with a very thick foamy brown head. Looks great. Strong coffee aroma with a lot of chocolate as well. Light body with a very strong coffee flavour, finishes in dark chocolate and dry roasty flavours. It is very good but it could use a lot more body. This is a pretty thin porter in my opinion.

Bottle a friend brought back from Montana. Pours a deep brown, almost black, with a small khaki head and a thin layer of yeast that settles at the bottom of the glass. The nose is a blend of caramel, cocoa, and a nondescript fruit note. On the light side of medium-bodied, the palate is fairly effervescent with a mineral quality at the finish. The flavor adds an almost smoky roasted malt flavor to notes found on the nose. It also has a lot less of the sweet fruitiness and adds a bit of salt to the mix. Overall, thus is an interesting porter. Thanks for bringing this back for me, Deana.

Moderately roasted dark malts, light chocolate, a little roasted nuts on the nose. Brown porter seemingly to me. Pours dark brown, thin off white head. Flavors of roasted malts, a little nutty, earthy, lightly sweet chocolate. Easy to drink.

64oz growler. Deep dark brown pour, ruby highlights. Fat beige head, nice and creamy with thick lace. Chocolate, caramel and roasted notes in the aroma. Taste has fudgey malts, caramel, coffee, roasty finish. Some lingering hops and coffee/roast at the end, leafy bitterness. Body and carbonation remained decent from the jug, pretty smooth overall. Enjoyable, good session beer.

Pours a cola color with slight tan head. Very roasy and nutty scents in there. Taste is also roasty and very nutty with slight chocolate flavor. Palate is slightly thin for a porter but not bad. Overall this is a nice porter.

Bottle:   Deep cola, large frothy light sand colored head, nice lacing.   Cocoa and roasted malt nose, sweet, a little milkshake like.   Not as sweet on the tongue as the nose suggested, soft hop, a little ashy, somewhat thin.   Smells great, but falls very quickly.   Does feel a little London like in that it has a smidgen of tartness on the back.   Decent Porter, but thought it was going to be a bit better based on the aroma.   Thanks for the bottle Bob!

Bottle (thanks to Daknole)(I’m not the hellbilly he is referring to)... Poured dark brown with a thick beige head. Remind me of a more English style porter. Worty sweet, cocoa, earthy and herbal hops. Low bitterness and thin palate. Oats and grains. Faint roast or toasted characters.

Picked up a sixer so I could give one to Hellbilly. Clear dark brown pour, sudsy tan head. Chocolate, roasted malt, lactic sweetness and a hint of molasses in the nose. Flavor is sweet up front, hints of black tea, chocolate and roast.

12oz bottle. Dark brown with a dense beige head. Aroma of milk chocolate, roasty malt and caramel. Flavor is sweet caramel and chocolate with a light bitter roast. Medium body with a soft mouth feel. Decent porter.

355ml bottle pours a reddish black color with a finger of off-white head that leaves some sporadic lacing on the glass. Aroma is roasted grains with hints of chocolate and mild floral hops. Taste is light chocolate and malt sweetness with some roasty bitterness balanced together nicely with a mild hoppy bitterness in the finish. Body is a little thin for the style and carbonation is soft. Overall, a pretty decent brew.
