COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our award winning dark ale which is an original London style, lighter in body than a stout but with the same alcohol content. Brewed with pale, crystal, chocolate and black malts to create a creamy, smooth, roasted, slightly chocolate tasting ale with a bit of hoppiness in the finish. The name comes from the fact that after brewing, the mash is given to a local farmer and there can't be anything better than spent grain from brewing for fattening up a pig.

Source:12 oz bottle from MT
Glass:Sam Adams Perfect Pint
Appearance:Dark brown with red hues and a two finger head that quickly dissipated into a thin layer of tan scum.
Aroma:Aroma is mainly of thick, rich caramel and a hint of roast.
Flavor:Flavor is a does of roast with a finish of dark caramel and earthy hops.
Palate:Medium bodied with solid carbonation
Overall:This has a very "homebrewed" quality about it that I love. Excellent porter all the way around.

Poured from bottle into a snifter Appearance – The beer pours a deep brown color with a nice one finger cream colored head. The head has a great level of retention, slowly fading to leave a nice level of foamy lace on the sides of the glass. Smell – The aroma of the brew is of roasted malts mixed with other smells of chocolate and caramel. Along with these aromas are some smells of toast and a little bit of a vanilla producing a rather nice aroma overall. Taste – The taste begins with roasted malt and chocolate taste mixed with a decent level of vanilla and caramel sweetness. As the taste advances these tastes remain the forefront of the flavor profile with some other lighter flavors of a more toast like nature coming to the tongue. The cocoa gains a bit more intensity as the taste moves to the end, and with the sweet caramel and vanilla gaining a little bit more intensity, one is left with a nice roasted but sweet flavor on the tongue. Mouthfeel- The body of the beer is average in thickness for a porter while the carbonation level that is rather average. For the style, a little thicker body may have accentuated the roasted and dark flavors of the brew slightly better, but overall the feel was rather decent. Overall – A nice porter overall with a good blend of chocolate, roast, and sweet. This was a very easy drinking and enjoyable brew overall and one to try if you get the chance.

A solid old style porter with a bit of hoppy bitterness. Pours a dark, opaque black with a finger of brownish head. The nose has a bunch of espresso and chocolate notes as well as roasty robust notes. Medium bodied and dry with a smooth, silky mouthfeel. The finish is mildly bitter and lingers with a roasted note.

Bottle poured into a porter glass presented dark amber, and a very persistent dark tan head. Aroma is metal, yeast, and bubblegum and the taste follows with an unpleasant sour that is lingering and clingy. The body is thin for a porter, and flat, but still finds a way to be creamy on my tongue. Drinking the rest of this glass will not happen. It’s finish is more pleasant than the first swallow, but getting through the initial shock of flavor to get to a more enjoyable end is not worth it.

"Pretty average across the board. Medium roast, coffee, cjocolate, hop bitterness. Light to medium bodied. Nothing special but not bad either.

[Bottle] Very dark brown in color. Small tan head on top. Nose includes chocolate, roasted malts and hints of anise. Roasted malt backbone with lighter flavors of vanilla, wood ash, earthy hops, pumpernickel bread and tobacco. Slick mouthfeel. Decent.

Poured from 12 oz bottle into a pint glass. Poured a very deep brown with a frothy tight 1 finger head. The head slowly withered, aromas of caramel, and dark chocolate along with sweet malts. Lightly sweetened coffee comes to mind in much of the taste. Very smooth finish with that hint of dark chocolate . OK mouth feel but very drinkable.

On tap at the Slippery Otter in West Yellowstone, MT. Opaque, brown-black with a khaki head and excellent lacing. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee, chocolate and nuts. Taste of chocolate, roasted malt, coffee and nuts. Medium body and medium/high carbonation. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Sample at Brennans - everything is a sample there! Pour is dark brown with no head. Aroma has caramel-chocolate with light brown sugar. Taste is more chocolatey, without the caramel/brown sugar "scotch ale" component being as present. A bit thin for a porter. Decent, although not enough to convince me to buy a 6.
