Capa (747), Yokosuka, Japan Jul 27, 2008 Caramel in color. Phenol overpowers the spicy, sweet malt aroma. Medium bodied with a high carbonation level. Fruity, sweet, caramel malts, and rather phenolic. I didn’t mind it at first, but by the end of my glass I was happy there were others to finish the bottle instead of me. TimE (1066), Tokyo, Japan Jul 26, 2008 Deep mahogany color. Very phenolic nose, which caramel, brandy and cherries barely peer through. The phenolics run the mouth. Dry brandy cherry finish. I think this beer is dedicated to phenolic lovers in Japan, of which there are lots (seriously). This beer would be hard to love for most people on this sight.
