A premium bitter ale with vibrant hop tones. A brewer’s choice. In 1988, the Maritime Museum in Greenwich commissioned Harveys to brew a 400th anniversary beer in celebration of the defeat of the Spanish Armada; many of the ships were sunk off the Sussex coast.

Cask (handpump) @ Charlies Bar, Copenhagen, Denmark. Light unclear medium amber orange color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, straw, moderate hoppy, grass, flowers, grapefruit, lemon. Flavor is moderate to light heavy sweet amd bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. (190708)

Cask conditioned: An orange beer with no head. It has a slight aroma of fruit. The flavor is a pretty dry hoppy aroma - with a very well rounded sweetness. Really a great beer with a fantastic hoppy flavor.

Cask@Royal Oak. Pale amber colour, not much head. Aroma is malts, hops, herbs and some spices. Flavour is spicy, malty, hoppy and has some grassy hints in it also. Very pleasantly mixed. aftertaste is mainly herbs and spices.

UPDATED: FEB 5, 2011 Cask. Dark golden with a slight haze and a rough off-white head. Discreet aroma of sweet malts and a little caramel. Light-bodied, flat, a little fruit and caramel, some flowery hops leaving a subdued bitterness in the finish. Mouthfeel is smooth and soft. 040211

(On tap) Beautiful, clear amber with a rough, off-white head. Slightly nutty aroma. Light-bodied with notes of nuts and roasted malt. Hoppy finish. Very easy drinking. 6/3/5/2/12=2.8 160406

Cask at the Cleveland Arms, London. Pours clear, bright gold with a foamy, white head. Nose holds some toasty bread, light berries, some twigs. Light to medium sweet flavor with mellow, leafy bitterness, some jammy fruits, modest berries, a bit of bread. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Good condition. Lightly sticky sweet finish with some dull berries, toasted sugars, bread, leaves. A pretty classic bitter served well.
