COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle: Filtered.
Originally called Nut Brown Ale - name changed early 2012.
Historically called Nut Brown due to the flavour of the beer, whose roasted malt and caramel sugars produce the ‘nutty’ palate of this dark, smooth ale. Priming sugars are later added to impart a background sweetness.

Bottled. Dark brown with a medium sized, short lived, light brown head. Lots of malt and molasses aromas. Flavours are light, with sweet, malty molasses and syrup, balanced with some floral hops. Low alcohol content gives a light, thin palate, but still very enjoyable.

Dari brown with a dark brow head. Almost black. Smells of daro berries, malt, caramel, and a smooth nuttyness that combined with the brow sugar smells very desserty. Medium oily body. Strong sweetness with a berry nut on the finish. Prunes, licorish. Nice sugary dessert beer.

Bottle at Scopey’s CBC Tune-Up. Massive thanks to Duff for sourcing this mega-Whale for the tasting. There was an audible gasp emitted when he pulled this from his bag. The appearance is deep brown with a small, light tan head. The nose is light sweet strawberry malts and rotting fruit, some hints of nuts. The taste is light roasted nuts and floral rainwater. There’s some chewy caramel, too. The body’s very light and watery. It’s a soft and generally muted beer. Overall, it’s a fine beer, uncomplicated and a bit boring. Perhaps the massive expectations hurt our chances of a truly objective rate!

Bottle at my Pre-CBC Tune-Up Tasting, big thanks to the legendary Duff for pulling these Harveys out of the bag.... It pours clear deep brown, with a bubbly off-white head. The nose is leaf, toast and soap. The taste is caramel, roasted malt, nut, toast, brown sugar, leaf and soap, with a dry finish. Light body and fine carbonation. Easy drinking for sure, just a little unexciting.

Bottle at the CBC Tune-Up, London. Huge thanks to Duff for pulling this one out. Pours a clear, red-brown with a creamy, light beige head. Doughy-toasty malt nose. Medium sweet flavor, some sugary bread, caramel, light toasty leaves, maybe some ripe fruits. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Sweet finish, more sweet bread, mild caramel. Pretty basic but easygoing. Thanks again Duff for going out of your way to bring us this beer. It was served at optimal temperature, too. Thanks, Duff.

Pours dark brown with thin white head. Nose is sweet malty. Lots of caramel. Very sugary aromas almost sherberty. Flavour is very much a mild. No particular flavours bursting through and quite flat on the first sip, but there is a really nice caramel finish that settles on the tongue. not bad as a mild, but nothing of the nuttiness promised in the name.

Good beer for a mild - great malty character with hints of caramel, nice palate, well balanced.
