Aug 2007 chris o Shindig Smooth chocolate stout - soft and oh so dreamy delicious. Lingering bitterness. Enjoyable and full of character. It has the the clean, lifeless taste of a filtered beer - however, still awesome.

Bottled - Chris O Shindig 2007 - A black coloured beer with a lovely beige head. The aroma is smoky and fruity with good notes of licquorice. The taste is smoky, roasty and fishy. Licquorice and dark chocolate. A delicious stout. Transport me back to 1835.

Bottle at the Chris o shindig. Deep black, nice rust colored head. Luscious caramel brown sweetness--deep and comforting in a way I associate with a good doppelbock. Flavor is an oceany iodine, soft sour chocolate, a bit of apple esters, nice chalky bitterness. A real stunner at less than 5%, and one of my most memorable beers of the tasting.

Bottle. Jet black beer with a tiny chocolate head. Roasted malt aroma. Fairly sweet to taste, some roasted malt, chocolate and coffee, a bit of smoke and a touch of pop corn. One of the best beers at the tasting.

Lovely really rich, deep brown, almost black appearance. Lots of roasty malt, coffee and chocolate in the aroma. More of the same on the palate. Smooth, but firm, mouthfeel. Quite tarry, but not heavy. Beautifully balanced and possibly the best beer of the day, despite the very strong opposition. I’d love to try this one on cask. Shame it seems to be a one-off.
