275 ml bottle
Strong pour in an English pint
Recent brewing, x-massed 1/07
Poured a clear red brown with an average fizzy somewhat lasting yellowish off-white head that settles in a ring of lacing.
Smelt of sherry, banana candy, cinnamon, ginger, vanilla, maraschino cherries.
Taste was upfront moderate bittersweet ginger and allspice bread, with hints of banana followed by a strong bitter dark molasses, roasted almost burnt grain taste with light sweetness on a long finish. Palate was medium to full bodied, creamy and velvety, softly carbonated, and moderately astringent.
Overall, this is my favorite christmas beer yet. Good sweetness upfront followed by a nice bitter roasty malt punch at the end.

Nose is complex & rich of raisins, berries, bubblegum, caramel & cinnamon. Very inviting. Smooth & soft mouthfeel. Low carbonation. Light off white creamy head. Hazelnuts, caramel, and dark fruits (cherries and raisins). Very sweet and a great thick mouthfeel. (Just what I needed before a football game in the coldl). Was expecting a little bit of bitterness, but there was none. Will age nicely. I will rate again next year. thewolf (4156), Kolding, Denmark Nov 18, 2008 Bottle, bought @ Barley Wine, Cph.<br />
Pours a great, clear, dark caramelly brown with a steady, great, creamy, beige head. Great duration. Aroma is wonderful, port, plums, caramel, wood. Highish carbonation, nice oily mouthfeel. Flavour is lots of toffee, good fat malts. Some definite flowery dryness. Quite vinious and a good deal of port-feel to it. Good fruitiness and a woody feel to it. Very nice!
