ChristianScheffel (2250), Odense, Denmark Oct 11, 2008 Red amber with a small off-white head. Fruity aroma with figs and dates, and a touch of port. Rich and sweet fruity flavour. The sweetness gets quite heavy yespr (6943), Copenhagen O, Denmark Sep 16, 2008 33 cL bottle. Pours clear and golden amber to brown with no head. Smooth and fruity hoppy aroma with a sweet caramel malt and breadish base. Flavour follows this closely and is rather sweet. Nicely spiced and lingering breadish sweet into the finish. Full bodied. Vac (2253), San Diego, California, USA Sep 15, 2008 Pours with a murky, brown body topped by a thin head with little lacing. It’s sweet and maltywith notes of toffee and a slight metallic note. Medium to full bodied and smooth. Mitch_Wayne (113), Kokkola, Finland Aug 7, 2008 Another good one from Harveys. Wood and sherry present in the aroma again, plummy scent brings xmas into my mind. Sweet taste with bready notes and plummy flavor with a hint of bitterness in the end makes this one of my xmas favorites. The alcohol is amazingly well hidden, never would have guessed this was so strong. polomagnifico (420), Saginaw, Michigan, USA Aug 2, 2008 Bottle. Aroma has notes of dark dried fruits, caramel malts, wood, and port. Dark tea hue with an average sized khaki head that mostly diminished and left good lace. Flavor is sticky sweet caramel malt with port tones and a little bitterness. Palate is full bodied and sticky. Oily flat with a cloying finish. A nice and solid barley wine. Good in every way it should be.
